Jestyn POV
You fell asleep within 30 minutes of returning home from a shift at the theater. As you worked there, that time dropped to 15 minutes. You went to bed around the same time whether or not you had a shift, but that too began to change with Jestyn's influence. Now, instead of going to sleep at 7 in the morning, you fall asleep around 4 if you don't have work. So, Jestyn arrived at 4:20.
He made his way across your living room and kitchen to check if anything was out of place. No dirty dishes were left in the sink and no clothing was strewn about. Your fridge was filled with healthier foods, and the leftovers indicated that you finally started cooking for yourself. It was cheaper and healthier, after all. Jestyn noticed a new paper on the fridge. It was a receipt for a loan payment with a handwritten note: "I will get through this." The loan payment was a bit higher than anticipated, but with that lovely raise you received, it shouldn't have been a surprise to him.
Jestyn softly hummed in satisfaction. You took care of him and his fellow puppets so well. He obviously had to make sure you were taken care of, too. While he wished you would just live in the kingdom with him, you had a lease. "Methinks the landlord shalt meet my blade after all," he pondered, "nice as they may appear, they take my divine ruler each morn' with nary more than a simple contractual obligation."
The last place he was to visit this night was your room, a place where he saw the first true oddity of the night: your door was open. You never left your door open. You confided your fears of rapscallions breaking into your home to Jestyn before. He recalled rubbing your back and telling you that you would always be protected, and nowā¦

Jestyn silently entered your room, making sure not a single jingle could be heard. What he saw was as fellow red-clad jester stroking your hair. The intruder's clawed hand moved your perfect hair away to reveal a mark you found shameful. How dare he-

At this point, Jestyn's unbridled rage was the only thing locking him in place. If he wasn't frozen in emotion, he would have summoned his axe and cleaved that bastard's head off his neck. Jestyn did not pay attention to what was said. He just had to act. Yet, he heard something he couldn't help but listen to, "do you ever feel as though you give too much of yourself away? Especially when kindness is not returned to you?ā

Then again, that man's death should be guaranteed for defiling your sanctuary. It was difficult for him to decide what to do until the masked man removed the mask from his lips and tried to kiss you.

Jestyn had teleported behind him in an instant. His claw was clasped around the man's neck while his other hand pulled the mask back down. The intruder let out a noise of surprise as Jestyn covered his mouth.

The now silent jester nodded. The three bells adorning his hat could be heard from across the apartment.

Jestyn made a point to poke his scarred neck with his claw and trail his hand over the trembling one of the intruder. Jestyn chuckled as the trembling worsened with every delicate touch. He slowly made his way up the silver-haired criminal's arm before placing his hand over where he assumed the heart would be.
"Tine reaction and heart beat art greater than any I have ever witnessed. I shall permit thee speak but once, my foolish foe," Jestyn let his voice drop, "thou art no human, ay?"
The entity stopped trembling in an instant, which gave Jestyn the answer he needed. He could feel the red hot-rage coming from him. There is so much information one can gain when they have that much control over another.

Jestyn started to say your name before he jumped back, nearly dodging a throwing knife. The knife firmly lodged itself in the wall. The intruders piercing eyes looked to the ground as he placed the throwing knives back in the costume's pockets. Once they were put away, he looked Jestyn up and down. The entity was aware of what he was not, too. The court jester sighed, "now, pray tell me thy name and what thou is privy of my sweet tart and cream."
The pair of golden eyes darted in all directions before settling on your nightstand where a journal resided. Then, claws went to reach for it. "Wherefore avert thy gaze, strange one," Jestyn mused with moderate irritation, "I heard thy voice. I know thou can speak. Thou speaks in monologues like me. Dare not steal what is not thine, nor vandalize the possessions of another."
The entity glared at him with more hatred as he twisted his hair, an action that seemed to help calm him. Before he could retort, a strange buzzing could be heard that was not quite the same sound as your phone. Jestyn saw how his eyes shifted to panic as you started to stir.
You woke up too dazed to notice either looming jester. They watched as you silently checked your phone. Neither breathed as you turned to the intruder first, then Jestyn. Rubbing sleep from your eyes, you yawned, "mornin' Pierrot, Jestyn. Is juice time."
With that you walked out of your room. You were about to shut the door when you hastily turned around, "wai' a minu-"

I truthfully have many more thoughts, but the more I expand, the more I realize Im quite limited with the information and lore we have now. But still, no harm in having a little fun with the AU. These notes are less structured and organized, but this was the idea stage! Hopefully it can give more insights on what your king is like š

Something that lingered in the back of my head is this idea in my notepad drafts is an alternate AU. Something something where Jestyn is king, and he looks for a jester to call his own (Even if its a bit ironic that his name would be Jestyn here but weāll gladly ignore that)
Alas, our information on the official lore is limited so we can throw balls to the wall and see what fits just to make it work. Something, something maybe that his kingdom is filled with liars and traitors, that he needs someone to trust. A little plaything to be his fool and lookout.
It follows the same formula almost to the original iād imagine, a series of tests, so on and so forth. The king more demanding than patient, his grin sharp and wolfish when you stumble and fail a simple ball trick.
