A rather inconspicious building. This place is where Karl Marx was born.
The main building of the Emperor's baths.
Probably the most famous building in Trier: Porta Nigra. This massive gate has withstood millenia of weather.
The altar of the cathedral is majestic.
Trier cathedral. This church was build in the 3rd centuey A.D. and is the oldest bishop's church in Germany.
Second day: Visit to the roman city of Trier.
This picture has been shot on the main market.
Windy road back to the car. Looking back the way we came, this is a nice breather after ca. 12km.
Our destination: Eltz Castle, a very romantic castle in a valley. Among the many castles I visited this castle ranks among my top three.
Build in the 12th century A.D. this castle is still in a very good shape.
Our baby slept most of the route. I was impressed by the baby carrier. The 12kg extra weight were barely noticable.
Landscape impressions. This is a pretty hike along fields and forests between mountains.
The route. Eltz scenic hike
The view at the starting point.
First hike with baby. Gear for a day.
