less of a poem, more of a reminder. ( ఌ )
“Forgive yourself for accepting less than you deserved - but don’t do it again.”

also I don't think parents "these days" are uniquely terrible, I just think neglect is showing up in new ways as technology progresses. today's ipad kid would've been wandering around in a ditch alone all day and night before. parents not wanting to have to deal with children is not a new phenomenon.
"Home of Shadows" At first, the darkness felt cold. Then it became quiet. Then familiar. Until one day, the light felt strange instead. For the soul can grow accustomed to almost anything— even sorrow, if it lives there long enough. That is why some fear healing. Not because they love the pain... but because they no longer know who they are without it. Remember... The abyss does not become your home because it loves you. It becomes your home because it is the only place that never asked you to leave.🖤
A person raised in love and another raised in survival, will never see the world the same way.

Truths
“Never be afraid to fall apart because it is an opportunity to rebuild yourself the way you wish you had been all along.”
— Rae Smith
Accept what happened. The past is done. You can't go back and change it, no matter how much you want to. What you can do is stop letting it control your present. Accept it, learn from it, and let it be part of your story not the whole story.
I will remember how to swim.
