Kicking his legs and beating his fists against Gilgamesh’s back, Somnus groaned. Of all the things!!!!

“LET ME DOWN, GILGAMESH! As YOUR king, I demand that you let me down! That you put me down on my two feet! Do as I SAY!”

He could feel his eyebrow twitching. 

“I will apologize to him when he apologizes to me. He is my older brother, after all. Shouldn’t he show the example?”

Crepera knew she was right, the lingering thought they were using their final descendant to rid the sin they’ve brought onto the land. To be a lamb ready for the slaughter, to carry so much weight upon his shoulders was hard enough to think about. Truthfully, they weren’t meant to discuss such a fate, because regardless of what they might do to prevent such, it was inevitable. Bahamut would have made sure of that but that didn’t necessarily mean they couldn’t discuss it.

Pouring another glass of wine, she slid it across the table to the founder, black painted fingernails tapping themselves against the surface of the table. ❝It’s selfish, to expect so much from him. He’s young still.❞ The truth of the matter, it did feel wrong - more than wrong. Their descendant didn’t deserve such a fate, but unfortunately for the old Kings, they could not stop the wheel from turning.

And that was the crux of the matter, was it not? Noctis did not deserve to die for their sins. He never deserved to die. He deserved to live. He had every right to live. Not to spend the after life with them. Not to become one of them. Somnus wanting nothing more than to defy Bahamut. But to defy him....What would that take? How would they defy him? 

That was a question that plagued Somnus daily. While he did not regret his actions all those years ago, he never thought his descendant would be made to pay for his crimes. It was his sin to bear. Not young Noctis’. 

And yet.... 

Reaching forward, he picked up the glass. He looked at the wine for a moment before taking a slow sip. He glanced at Crepera, biting his lip. What to do....?

“This talk, I’m sure, would upset the Draconian. He is so set on whatever his plan is that he would still have us be his puppets. Would have a boy be his last puppet. And to accomplish what? Ridding our line for good and to ‘save the world’? The only way I could imagine stopping this farce is to get my brother on our side. But I highly doubt that would work...”
