Captive Prince by P.S. Pacat
Still can’t get over Johnny calling his definitely-not-a-shadowhunter- son “Christopher Jonathan” like sir. You may as well have named him Shadow McHunter at that point
"Unidentified Lancer of House Augustus (approx. 740s CE, Artist Unknown), Oil on Paper" (old version)
I am just now realizing that the sun and the moon never meet - like they will always keep missing each other even though they are perfect opposites
funny thing about twp is no matter how mean cc is to kit i will want her to be meaner. i have aus where lucifer/the cohort/etc kill kit & then ty/mother hawthorn bring him back (with all the issues around that). lucifer being his dad. multiple forms of torture. some where i have mother hawthorn try to kill him & seal auraline’s soul in his body. a version of thule where she actually succeeds. cc can always be worse
RAAAAHHH
look at out boy! he's beautiful
I AM GOING TO FUCKING SCREAM, VOMIT DIE THROW UP EXPLODE!!!!
Hi, Cassandra! I hope you’re doing well. In *The Last Prince of Hell*, will there be flashbacks showing what Dru, Ty, and Kit’s lives were like during the period between *Queen of Air and Darkness* and *The Wicked Powers*? Or perhaps scenes from *The Dark Artifices* revisited from a different perspective—such as events we saw through Kit’s eyes now being told from Ty’s point of view, or moments Dru witnessed that readers never got to see?
Dru's story does include sort-of flashbacks because there are things that happened to her that she herself doesn't remember. As she recovers those memories, the reader learns them alongside her, so those scenes are part of the present story rather than looking backward. They are key things we don't yet know.
Ty and Kit are a little different. Between Queen of Air and Darkness and The Wicked Powers, they were not having life-changing adventures (the most exciting things that probably happened to Kit are in Secrets of Blackthorn Hall). They were growing up, and changing emotionally—but they weren't secretly having another trilogy's worth of stories off-page. They were both in a sort of suspended life between TDA and TWP in which they were not learning big new information, not yet dealing with the consequences of any of their choices, and not experiencing great losses or gains that we don't already know about. Kit being the Heir doesn't mean much during those skipped years, nor does Ty having raised Livvy mean much during those skipped years (as nothing about that changes until TWP) and those are the backbones of their personal arcs. And where they experienced personal growth, they were both in some sense stuck in time while they didn't deal with their issues or feelings regarding each other. In some ways, that is a big part of their story.
That doesn't mean those years are ignored. Kit thinks back on things he learned from Jem, Tessa, and Mina. Ty reflects on his time at the Scholomance, on what he learned there, and sometimes on opportunities he feels he missed with his family. Those experiences absolutely shape who they are. But they usually come up the way our own memories do: because something happening now reminds us of them. They're woven into the present rather than presented as flashbacks.
helen and aline <3 my girls deserved more page time in tda and i'm still butter about it
Yearning Ty, he gets it from his mama (Julian)
hi cassie! i’m so excited and thankful for his universe! what is one good quality and one negative quality that ash has inherited from his parents? even janus (step parent vibes)?
That's an interesting question because Ash's "parents" aren't exactly people you'd look to as role models.
What I think Ash inherits from them isn't negative or positive traits so much as qualities that are morally neutral. Those qualities can become virtues or vices depending on the choices he makes and the reasons he makes them.
Sebastian, for instance, is/was extraordinarily determined. He achieved some truly lunatic goals. Determination is an admirable quality in the abstract; it's what lets people persevere through impossible circumstances. But determination without empathy becomes selfish ambition, and that can lead to terrible things. Ash has inherited that determination — but we don't yet know where he'll take it.
The Seelie Queen is incredibly intelligent and politically perceptive. She understands power, people's desires, and how to influence them. None of those qualities are inherently evil; in fact, they're often the mark of a gifted leader. But she uses them primarily to control and manipulate others and she does not limit her cruelty. Ash has inherited her instinct for reading people and her strategic way of thinking. The question for him is whether he uses these insights to manipulate people or to understand them.
Janus probably had the greatest influence on the person Ash became. At one point, Janus genuinely cared for him and protected him in the ways he knew how, but Janus also believes that the ends justify almost any means. He wants Clary and he doesn't much care if she wants him back, or what he has to do in order to have her. He is also willing to use Ash in any way to get what he wants. Janus may have taught Ash some things about love, but all Janus' love is twisted up and eventually destructive. Ash needs to understand that love is an important good, but love isn't not caring about the other person's free will and agency.
Determination can become relentless fanaticism. Political intelligence can become manipulation. Love can become possessiveness. An interesting thing about Ash is that he's got nature, nurture, and magic all tangled up together as influences on him.
City of Bones, Chapter 1 - Pandemonium
In the faint light she looked half-transparent, bleached of color, wrapped in white like an angel. It would be a pleasure to make her fall…
The Last King of Faerie, Chapter 2 - His Sudden Vengeance
For a moment she hung in the space at the edge of the roof, still reaching for something to cling on to, even as not-Jace grinned down at her with a bright, pitiless smile. “Now fall,” he said. “Isn’t that what angels do?”
so like whats the theories so far on lucifer being kit's dad? cause im skimming through lord of shadows and kit tells jessamine off-handedly that its unlikely his dad has gone to heaven... and that just feels too on the nose... also in the same book kit recalls a moment where johnny is talking about necromancy and maybe its just me but the way he brings up god sounded somewhat intimate... im side eying cc rn
Lord of Shadows reread
I love TDA so much, I can't belive I haven't reread it earlier. Enjoy <3
We are starting with THE jacket?
Page 5 and Jace is speaking ill of Kit's late father. AHHHHH
Kit "I'm unimpressed" Herondale my beloved
RIP Magnus the fish
Angry Kit is hilarious! I forgot he was such a little shit! No surprise Julian was thinking about strangling him.
Emma and Mark's friendship is everything
Emma, some people would be excited to discover a new species of snail, alright?
Wait, Excalibur is cannon in TSC??? It MUST come up in TWP if it's based on Arthurian legend.
I always assumed Ty saw Livvy and Kit kiss, but now I'm sure.
Livvy half-flirting with Kit and Ty being jealous my beloved <3
Mh... I don't know if he said that because it's a demon, but spiders don't have mandibles. Ty, you should know that!
I can't believe that during Cristina and Mark's first kiss she thought about his kiss with Kieran. The foreshadow!
Diana telling Zara to shut up is also very badass.
What do you mean cookies are one of the few good foods in England? Poor Kit, he now lives there :')
I really hope the Shadowhunter exclusive parking spot is brought up again in TWP :)
Oh, the translation is so funny, they called Magnus Marcus :)
Kit looks so quiet in other people's POV
Ok, so the demon appeared in the church because necromancy was performed there and opened a hole in dimensions. I'm glad no one decided to perform necromancy on the mortal mirror...
Kieraktina I love you so much <3
I love how they tried to avoid the riders finding Ty, Livvy and Kit, or Emma and Julian, and they failed BOTH times.
The wet rider is hilarious.
Jessamine only likes Kit to talk with? How could I forget that?
Magnus Bane, always having the best tea but being unable to share it. Your curse scares me.
I am not crazy, the description of Kit's eyes keeps changing. Julian describes them as light blue, Kieran as the color of the ordinary sky (which I assumed is also light blue), but Emma later on describes them as very dark blue (Chapter 25)? It's either a lack of consistency or the shade of them changing.
Dru and Ash!!!
My theory.... After reading this book I may update it. It's been a long time.
Livvy, I wouldn't call Anabel undead, your future is not better...
"A hate like that could destroy the world." Kieran says about the Cohort. I'm so scared for TWP.
And the ending.... I'm sure I don't need to add anything else.
I wonder how much Kit, Ty and Ash interact in TLKOF considering these are the two bits we have confirmed. Also, Ash interacting w Livvy. Like what happens with them?? Do they meet up at the end and that's why they interact more in tlpoh? Also, where in the book then does THIS line come in?
My first thought with this line is that it's more beginning to middle of the book, but I guess it could also make sense for it to be near the end, because we know Ash calls Kit "Christopher" until Kit corrects him, so they must have already interacted, right? Do they come together and then get separated again??
Idkk I wanna know how much our main characters are together 😭
Ohhh, great catch!
I've decided that the events of The Lost Boys is engineered by the saxophone guy so he can take the prime spot at the Boardwalk instead of playing second fiddle (saxophone?) to the shitty vampire band.
Yes he does know they're vampires.
But worse they are shitty musicians.
i am jumping around the tsc books because I am a chaos demon like that but reading TDA (I'm on Lord of Shadows rn) right after reading the first three books from TMI is making the Clary/Kit parallels so apparent like:
Both Clary and Kit were kept from their shadowhunter roots (except Kit knew they existed and was taught to hate them and fear them and I'm excited to see how his anti-Clave sentiments have shifted in TWP).
Kit and Clary having to deal with not only their latent shadowhunter powers but extra powers given to them by their ancestors (in Clary's case its just Valentine drugging her mom with angel blood).
Both Kit and Clary's existence being a catalyst to a regime shift/ change in the current hierarchy of power within the shadow world.
Clary and Kit being connected to prophecies (Clary being able to see them in some capacity and Kit being the prophesized one).
I'm sure there is so much more but this is all I can think of right now. But yes Clary/Kit parallels makes my mind so buzzyy. They're prophecy kids for a reason.
