Lady Beneviento hadn’t told you she was expecting company today, but perhaps it had slipped her mind. You open the door with a small smile to greet Val. “Are you here to see Mistress Donna, ma’am?” You asked, tilting your head and wiping your hands on your apron. You’d been in the middle of preparing supper.
{MAID TO HOUSE BENEVIENTO}
You pause. No one ever came back... “No!” You blurt out before covering your mouth. “I-I mean no, you can stay! U-Um, I’m sorry for… r-raising my voice… b-but you should stay for dinner… you and Mistress Donna can d-discuss wh-what you came here f-for…? I-I tend to m-make too much f-food for j-just the two of us.” You confess, shifting your weight onto your right side to alleviate some of your pain.
“D…Did I introduce myself…?” You asked softly. You were so forgetful…
Val gives the maid a reassuring smile in response to the apology. "Don't worry about it. No harm done." She nods slightly at the suggestion of staying for dinner. "Well, alright." she shrugs, "If you insist. Who am I to say no to free food?" The comment is made in jest, an attempt to make the other women even slightly less nervous in her presence.
She shakes her head when the maid questions whether or not she's yet introduced herself. "No. No, you haven't." Her grin widens. "I was just about to ask, actually, if you were going to tell me your name or whether I'm just supposed to refer to you as 'mysterious maid'." She chuckles softly at her own joke.
“Ecaterina Bogdan.” You introduced, a polite bow going the other’s way. “You may call me Cat if you wish.” It takes you a while to process the other bad made a joke. You chuckle quietly.

❝ R-Right... ❞ You bow. that’s all you can really do. No hand contact. ❝ I c-can call her i-if you’d like, domnișoară Val? She might take a while, as she likes to... hole herself in her little workshop and forget to eat... ❞ You patiently wait for an answer, folding your hands together in front of you. ❝ Or, I can leave a message with her if you’d prefer that? ❞
Val is puzzled slightly by the fact that the maid seems to avoid shaking hands with her, but she brushes the thought aside. Some people simply don't like to be touched, so she reasons that must be the case in this particular instance. She can't shake the fact that the woman does seem a bit... nervous...? But perhaps she's reading more into it than there actually is.
She nods in understanding, giving the woman a small grin. That sounded familiar; Heisenberg would often hole himself up in his workspace when working on a "project", unable to tear himself away for any reason. Val can't count how many times she had to bring him food or something to drink or he too would have gone without. "Yeah, I know someone like that."
She contemplates the maid's question for a moment. "I can wait for her if you don't mind. I'm not in any hurry." She grins sheepishly, running a hand through her hair. "It feels kind of rude of me to interrupt dinner, though. I can come back afterwards if it'd be better..."
You pause. No one ever came back... “No!” You blurt out before covering your mouth. “I-I mean no, you can stay! Mother Miranda told me how absolutely ‘spoiled’ I am and how I should appreciate what I have before she rips it away. I believe it was… a threat. ❞
“I… could retrieve another bottle from the cellar, if you wish, Countess.” Magda hoped that, when Alcina said she was out of wine, it was only referring to the immediate vicinity of her room and not the entire castle. If that wasn’t the case, perhaps it was best she stopped drinking for the rest of the day. Yes, the woman could regenerate, but Magda wanted to help Alcina’s liver in some way.
The seamstress stood there quietly as everything was explained to her. Once she was finished, Magda nodded in understanding. “I can also retrieve fabric and cover all the mirrors in this building. As for what Mother Miranda has said? if I may be so bold, I don’t think she knows what she’s speaking about. Countess, you are not spoiled. She was the one who gifted you this castle, did she not? I believe you appreciate what you have here; your daughters, the staff, the decor, even the clothes you wear. Never once have I seen you act in a spoiled manner. I also don’t think she has the power nor the ability to tear things from you. Not without a fight from House Dimitrescu or questions from the other lords. Because if one House falls? What’s to stop another from meeting the same fate? I think she would lose all respect and trust if that were the case.”
❝I appreciate everything I was given. My daughters. My home. My seamstress… You’re extremely talented. and She knows the girls’ weaknesses, and could exploit them. rip them from me. Also, yes, please. Do cover the mirrors and bring me another wine if you could, please? ❞ You ask with a low sigh. You were… slowly starting to despise Mother Miranda. ❝ I say she gifted me it, but my parents were the original proprietors. She just took it when I left this FORSAKEN village, and then gave it back to me as if she was some sort of… philanthropic, but she’s really just a greedy, power-hungry horrible woman who doesn’t deserve to have her child back!❞ Rage curled in your stomach and you punched the mirror, smashing it to pieces. Tears fall from your face, though less-so are they tears, and more… blood.
Magda smiled at the compliment given to her. “Countess, your daughters have your wit and intelligence. They also share your fire. I don’t think they would be exploited so easily, nor do I think they’d be so easily taken from you.” She was, however, surprised to hear that this castle had belonged to Alcina’s parents. Why, she had no idea, but for some reason, Magda had thought the lords were all installed by Mother Miranda from different walks of life.
Seeing Alcina’s rage, Magda kept quiet, unsure if saying anything would help at this moment. Instead she simply began collecting the larger pieces of glass, wanting to make the life of the maid sent in to clean up this mess a bit easier. Upon seeing the woman’s bloodstained tears, Magda stood and deftly retrieved a handkerchief, offering it to her. Yes, she was going beyond her duty as a seamstress, but it was easier to remove blood from a small square of cloth than it was from a dress of that size. The folds and gatherings meant spots could hide in many unseen places. Also, no one wanted to see the Lady of the House cry. “Is there anything else you would like retrieved, Countess? Aside from the wine?”
Slowly you come back from your rage, deep, slow breaths and wiping your eyes with the handkerchief.
“Ah… if you could… get me the broom and dustpan, I’d appreciate it. The maids shouldn’t have to clean up glass for my lack of control. Nor should you.”
You could be independent from the help employed of course, but aside from the blood, you genuinely enjoyed having your maids around…

The house had seemed abandoned at least from the outside, but it was beautiful none the less, The gates, the graveyard, bearing a marker that had been partially broken off reading 'A Benviento' apparently there were leaders in this town. Or had been? Still were? They just hadn't appeared before her. She had managed to avoid them? and somehow all of the people? She was bothered by this but it helped her in a way. She put her hand on the doorknob of the house and then twisted, somehow finding it was unlocked.
She wondered if this place would hold any of the information she was looking about...or if it would be another letdown?
You watch someone enter through your unlocked door. No one was supposed to come in. you never locked it. No one came by. You had no reason to lock it. But, no. No, you pause, and lock yourself in your workshop. they would leave. they would leave alive or dead, but they’d leave.

Her sisters often said she was too boy crazy. "Grandmother really seemed to be a very kind and loving person. I wish I could have met her.”
“So Anca was your first crush? Did you ever fall in love again?” Her curiosity overcame her. She loved love stories and this one came from mother, not from a book.
Daniela returned her mothers smile. “You’re doing wonderful, mother. I’m thankful for having you in my life and I wouldn’t want to imagine it without you. And I hope I’m a good daughter…even if I’m so chaotic sometimes.”

Your arms are crossed, and you drop one to your side, attracting your cup of coffee to you, thank fuck for metal cups. You shift as you take a drink, looking over the outsider.

Val was a little surprised to see the young woman standing in the entrance to Donna's home; she wasn't aware the dollmaker employed maids. No matter. She flashed the woman a small smile in return. "That's right." Her smile widened slightly as she extended a hand in greeting. "I'm Valeria. But, please, just call me Val."
