So I saw this shop advertised in Ns signature while browsing the most recent theme week. I found quite a few others as well and decided to check them all out since I wanted some art, the other shops I checked out were awesome and well done, but this one..
I not only found out they were closed, but I also found out that their shop is a major eye sore. The font is annoying to read and N is beyond wordy. Did no one tell N to just keep it brief? They even have an about section as if its necessary?
What made you even think these looked good? Are you fucking 12? Are you sure youre allowed to be on this site? Rainbows and swirls are not the way to go, if anything just go with the plain fucking text. This just goes to show, just because you can draw, does not mean you can design.
You dont need to fucking tell people to ask, they will without you telling them to, but regardless do you not even know what you are willing to draw? Like fuck, this is one of the easiest parts of a shop to make, just a simple list of what you will draw.
Why did you even feel the need to add this? Was it seriously necessary? If the customer can skim or skip it, it is not fucking necessary to add and you should honestly have left this section out.
N’s art is decent, not bad, but nothing to write home about and the stuff on this wish list is a number of extremely expensive items. Ffs just stop, no one is going to give you boneyard tatters or a light sprite for your 100kT art.
Its not pictured, but their form is okay, until they explain every bit of it as if they are expecting their customers to be morons.
I obviously didn’t get anything. When your shop is this bad, I’ll just take my business elsewhere.
This was physically painful to read, but I’ma just step in here.
1: They look fine, and something that my college portfolio class keeps telling us is to be creative in how we brand ourselves, meaning our format and how we word things on resumes and coverletters and ads. That’s what N here is trying to do. Being creative in their format.
2: No you don’t need to tell people that it’s okay to ask, and they’ll do it anyways, but inviting people to ask tells potential customers who might have issues like, say, anxiety, that if what they want isn’t on the list (which should be kept short and to major things people might ask for/be looking for) it’s safe for them to ask without having a massive anxiety or panic flare or attack.
3: That bit does actually contain important information for their shop, but that isn’t necessarily rules or important for literally every customer. It’s basically an FAQ section for how they handle those situations listed. That’s why it’s included, so they don’t need to explain it again for every new customer who comes along.
4: That’s why it’s a wishlist and not a “you must pay me in this”. Wishlists are wishes, not demands. They probably know damn well what their art is worth, but you know what? The worth of art is subjective. You might think it’s not worth boneyard tatters, someone else might think it’s not worth a single treasure, and someone else might think the art is worth 50 Light Sprites. But point is, it’s a fucking wishlist.
5: Okay that bit is a problem, but since that sounds like the only actual legitimate issue and not just you throwing a nit-picking tantrum because their shop doesn’t fit exactly your tastes, that is the part you should have capped and shown us. Otherwise we either need to track the thread down ourselves or take your word for it. Considering how you handled this whole thing, I’m not taking your word for it.
And good for you, not getting anything from a shop you don’t want to support. Congratulations, gold medal to you. Except I’m going to take that medal right back because the nit-pick tantrum was so very unnecessary. Here, have a gold star instead.
