I know SEVERAL afab nonbinary people who, as soon as they came out as nonbinary - immediately began dressing in ridiculous hyper-femme outfits they never would have worn before.  A lot of people see this and say shit like “Theyfab” or say they are only nonbinary for attention.  After all, look how femme they are.

But to me, this makes perfect sense.  When you are forced into the category of “woman” against your will, femininity is a chore.  It’s a job that you have.  As soon as you say no, I’m not a woman, suddenly femininity isn’t your job anymore.  It’s not a requirement.  It’s just a fun hobby you can get into.  Or a little treat sometimes.

It is inherently fun and sexy to say statements that swap the traditional genders of pronouns and terms mid-statement, such as: "I'm going to make him my wife" "She's my boyfriend" "Who says a guy can't be a pretty princess?" "That girl's the coolest dude I've ever met" "She's a madman who has to be stopped" "It's not his fault he's a material girl" Gender is a set of watercolors and the prettiest shades come from mixing the paints together.

the thing about madoka magica is that it has the vibe of something that would be super overrated by annoying people who have never actually experienced the object of its homage in earnest, but no, is literally just an extremely good magical girl show with dark elements. it just keeps showing its hand over and over again, but it has so much to offer on the other side of its misdirections. i saw it when i was a teenager and i think it might have transed my gender at the time

the part where you're supposed to get hooked isn't episode 3, its the first time they enter a labyrinth and the fucking medium changes. it's really obviously good from beginning to end, there's no trick. it crashes headfirst back into its source material in the most beautiful way possible at the end.

your happiness matters. if transitioning makes you happy, go for it. if not transitioning but understanding your gender identity makes you happy, go for it. if you just want to be genderfuck whatever as an expression, go for it. if you don't, go for it. you are important! being happy is so valuable and when you can be you and be happy that's where it matters the most. your identity is something you should find joy in, and no one should damper that. if you can't express it in that happy way yet, you'll get there. i know you'll make it on the better end of that and you can do it.
