*Woody probably does have an old-looking scar on his right shoulder, but not one on his back, as this story takes place before TS4.

*Buzz would probably be curious where the scar came from if he ever saw it, considering how Woody could have an old scar as a new human. Woody would cover up by saying, "-severely injured, and I guess the stitches carried over." "Stitches?" "Oh- I meant- I had to get stitches, ofc they came out- I just meant the 'scar' carried over" (good save Woody lol).

*Woody as a human is definitely more flexible than the average person (from him being a ragdoll before).

For Mysticpaintertraveler:

*Right now in the story, Zurg is not even a known name (except maybe by the darker seedy parts of the galaxy). Tbh, most of the toys (except Rex) forgot about the random toy Zurg in the elevator claiming he's Buzz's father. Woody definitely doesn't remember because he wasn't even there. Time will tell who Zurg is in this dimension and his story regarding the other characters. I think ya'll will be surprised and thrown for a tragically exciting story!

For Tumbling-down-in-the-deep:

*Felidaens, being cat-like, are easily distracted by flickering/moving lights and small objects (their eyes are instinctually sensitive to it). They're known to be good shots with a laser because of their increased focus on small moving lights; however, they can get distracted by other people's lasers. They personally train themselves out of this so they can focus on their job. Otherwise, they would be overwhelmed by distractions and focusing on too many little things at once. Thankfully, they don't chase the light like a real cat, but if it's within arm's reach they might try to subconsciously grab at it.

*Ty, Buzz, and Warp live in Housing Building 1 in BT, (unlike Woody, Merk, and Newt), and none of their bed assignments are beside each other (thankfully for Ty's sake; he's got a nice secluded spot in the corner). Warp honestly forgets Ty exists half the time. The only reason he's bitter towards Ty is mostly because of proximity (Buzz thinks of Ty as a friend and enjoys his company), and Ty isn't afraid to call out Warp's bs and has more than once noted Warp's family name as being, well, infamous. That's what ticks Warp off most regarding Ty.

Designs for the BT Profs will be coming! I'm working out the final kinks in their design rn along with another Woody outfit compilation!

Woody has mentioned the 'dramatic human emotions' thing to Nebula, human Buzz, and Valerie. Nebula doesn't really care (he hears many of Woody's rants and has bigger things to worry about). Buzz is confused by what Woody means by dramatic, as Buzz doesn't have dramatic emotional moments (at least under normal circumstances). Valerie (per her species culture) is very curious about how Woody experiences human emotions, and they talk about his human experience often. Woody learns a lot about emotional regulation and stress-relieving techniques from her.

Right now, I see Ro (Rob he'll prob be called) as an alternate version of XR. I'm still debating on when/if XR will make an appearance. If he does, it'll be different from the show's origins for sure, I just hope I'll be able to capture his spirit. You'll notice that Rob is very monotone and nonchalant compared to XR. I based him on the robot in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Also because XR's 'extra' personality comes from how he was made in the Blosc movie. So for now, think of Rob as a different XR model, a humoid one Star Command is trying out.

Sid's toys... hmmm. Honestly didn't think about it, but I am now. I do have concept plans for the other toys' doppelgangers... and Sid, so maybe I'll expand the idea with the mutant toys making an appearance!

Woody's sad about losing his hat. It gives him a little bit of comfort knowing (hoping) that wherever Buzz is, his hat is there with him. But don't worry! He'll get a new hat as a gift from someone later in the series!

At first, the other cadets resented Woody for the rumored special treatment, then they were a bit confused as to why he even got "special treatment" as he didn't appear to know anything about their world. After learning he was from another dimension, it started making sense, but the jokes and jabs didn't stop. Not until the blaster evaluation. Then they all shut up (except for Warp) and respected Woody's skill.

The humans have been thoroughly confused by Woody's sayings. They come so naturally to Woody that he doesn't understand why they look at him strangely when he says them. Woody mostly mutters them when he's annoyed, so most of the time people think they've only misheard him. But if they're sure that's really what he said, they think he must have been some kind of robot back home. After all, who says Manufacture like it's a curse word lol! Down the road, his friends are certain Woody worked closely with children in his dimension; he's got a way with kids that is undeniable.

Honestly, I forgot Lucky Luke existed. Bud Lucky is a reference to the main character designer for Woody in Toy Story 1. He's the one who turned the ventriloquist doll concept of Woody into the handsome pull-string cowboy we know and love today. (what a save really). You know it's such a nice coincidence, let's just say Woodrow's grandfather looked a bit like Lucky Luke.

Not many food-related things in this alien world remind Woody of his friends, thankfully. Tho they have something reminiscent of potatoes that gave him pause at first. But hey, food is food.

Warp's name change is a part of a Fascinatingly Tragic backstory for the character that came to me in a demented fever dream. I will Definitely be writing out that whole story and publish it (but it will be much later, after I've finished Woody's arc). All you need to know rn is that Warith is his birth name, but it was changed to Warp (for dishonorable family drama reasons) when he was only a few weeks old. I'm not even sure if, at this point, Warp knows the full story. Everyone, including Warp, only knows his first name as Warp.

How would WBI Woody react when he realizes he can bleed? His reactions seen drops on his own blood? Forgive my morbid curiosity but I need to know

Good question!

Morbid curiosity forgiven and shared. I enjoy a good body horror and gore story (not in a sadistic way). I kept gore and horror on the down low in this fic just cause I know not everyone enjoys it. But I might have some parts in the far future that are more intense.

The first time Woody saw that he was bleeding, he fainted; his mind simply couldn't fathom what was happening to him. Since then, he hasn't really been in a situation yet where he gets seriously injured (but they will come in future episodes, like in Uncharted Vacation). I can't wait to play around with Woody's thoughts on mortality and how the idea has changed/evolved now that he's human.

I think if Woody experiences bleeding again, he won't faint, but will have a mix of extreme worry and curiosity (depending on the severity). Stuffing loss is the toy equivalent of bleeding, so I'm sure bleeding itself wouldn't bother him (he's prob lost stuffing before), especially if it doesn't hurt too badly. Mostly, I think he'd just be worried about whether it'll stop on its own, since it's not something us humans can really control.

Woody would be more frustrated at the healing than the injury itself. A couple of stitches isn't going to instantly heal all injuries like before, and popping a dislocated arm back into socket isn't like clicking the arm on an action figure back in place. Star Command may have advanced medicine, but the body still takes time to heal, and they can't heal death.

The people from Auria can feel others physical pain when it comes from emotions? (Omg, this is hard to explain) I mean, you know when you laught that much that it stars to hurts your chest? Since intense emotions can provoke you real pain, can they feel that too or their habilities are limited to the emotions?

Have you tried to play sim games to try to figure out OCs behavior & relationships? It's fun

The extent of Auralumian abilities depends on who they are interacting with and how pureblood they are. If they're interacting with another of their kind, they can more easily sense the other's emotions and physical state. *This is due to their emotional state having a Direct influence on their physical state, e.g., someone not mentally well will look physically ill, but the more mentally healthy they are, the healthier and more beautiful (like evish) they look.

More pureblood and trained auralumains can sense a non-lumains' true physical state, but they mostly focus on emotions, as emotions are held in higher regard in Auria culture.

An auralumian can temporarily smooth over the negative effects of a person's mood (kinda like Mantis from Marvel) so that the person's mind and body can be at ease and have a break to manage their thoughts and feelings.

Half-lumins like Valerie can sense others' emotions (maybe physical state if she focuses), but can't quite pinpoint the source, and requires physical touch for her abilities to work better.

So to more specifically answer your question, A typical auralumian would be able to sense intense joy from someone laughing and could feel (kinda) that their body might be in pain from laughing so hard. Or if someone was in a deep depression, they know how negative emotions affect the body, so they don't need to sense it to know that the sad person must be feeling fatiuged or physically ill from the negitive emotions.

P.S. - I have played around with Sims 4 to better picture what various characters look like, what their basic likes and interests are, and how they might dress in a given scenario. (Basically, I spend a lot of time in the character customization part of Sims! lol 🤭)

More WBI Woody outfits!!

Cowboy fit - What he was wearing when he first landed in the Star Command universe.

'Casual' - realising his normal outfit stuck out like a sore thumb in this world, he chose not to wear the holster and vest. (He'll get more casual clothes later in the series after BT, to fit better in while retaining a personal style).

BT (Basic Training) Uniforms - there are a few options for uniforms; these are the two Woody would wear the most. The first one (with the short sleeves) is his go-to, tho when they're not doing drills, he prefers long-sleeves. The second one is the uniform they use for special drills (mainly fight simulations, tests, colder night drills, and what they wear under suits). They'll probably use these in the academy too, but maybe with different colors.

Added Bonus: Pajamas! Lol - In my au, Woody really doesn't like going to sleep. More specifically, he hates facing the same rounds of nightmares each night. Falling unexpectedly through a portal into an unfamiliar world and body leaves its marks.

I'm loving the fact that I can blur parts of an artwork in Procreate that are too spoilery. Here are some formal &/or work outfits for Woody in Worlds Beyond Infinity.

Formal - something simple, loose. Can be used for a formal event, going out to a nice place, or a date!

Mess Dress - Based on U.S. military Mess Dress uniforms. Would wear to the Star Command Ball (also based on a real Military annual event) or other formal Star Command occasion.

SR Suit - my most recent design of a Space Ranger Suit for Woody.

I wanted something that fit within the Star Command world, but still separated him from the main suit designs, something that felt more like him. This suit is slimmer and more flexible, fitting his build and fighting style better than Buzz's suit could. It's also why he has a different visor, one that wraps around his head like Star-Lord's mask. The suit also features cowboy-like boots and a star on the chestplate (referencing his Sheriff's badge and that one space suit design he had in a children's book). He also has his old bandana tied around a belt loop, so he always has a piece of home by his side on a mission.

I imagine in this Star Command world, rangers have tailor-made suits to fit perfectly physically and for different fighting styles. Buzz's suit is the traditional default design (but he has some personal reasons for not changing anything), while Woody took the opportunity to change his suit a bit. Helping him to embrace the idea of being a Space Ranger and not simply taking on the role his old toy friend once thought he was.

BONUS: blurred sneek peak at a future outfit for one of the planned episodes. In this one, Woody and Buzz go undercover on Trade Planet! I think ya'll have a good laugh at what I have planned, outfit/hairstyle-wise, for both of them.

I'll make some more casual everyday outfits for him too. As soon as I can pick a design and actually stick to it lol.

When you can tell Exactly what movie/scene it is from a small piece of a single frame, based only on the lighting and texture.

(These were a series of images a friend tested me on, hoping I would fail. After I got each one perfectly, she never underestimated my power of Toy Story know-how again.)

Crossover vs AU vs Something else?

Those who've read my Worlds Beyond Infinity fanfic know it's kinda a crossover between Toy Story and Blosc (There will be Lightyear characters in it in future chapters as well).

However, I don't really consider it a true crossover because most of the Blosc or Lightyear characters in the story are either reimagined, backstories added upon, or are used purely for cameos. Also, this fic's Star Command has its own structure & origins, combined from the various original sources (TS, Blosc, Lightyear), sprinkled with some original ideas.

A legitimate crossover would involve the Toy Story characters experiencing the canon Blosc or Lightyear Star Command, its structure, and the Blosc or Lightyear characters with their canon backgrounds and mannerisms.

This is what makes my Star Command universe more of an AU, with doppelgangers and it's own story plot that takes heavy inspiration from the original sources. I wanted a world that combined all the Buzz Lightyear lore, rather than choosing one as the true source. It left a lot of room to play, figuring out how everything connected together! However, it's not a Full AU, because it starts with the canon Toy Story characters and world, then shifts into an AU, similar to a canon divergence.

Why do I say all this? Cause it's hard to stick my fic into one category when uploading to fanfic sites. Is it an AU? Yeah, a lot of it. Canon Divergence? Yep, that too (for undisclosed plot reasons). Crossover? Kinda yeah, it's got characters from other Toy Story-related media, that are 80-95% close to their canon source. It's a little bit of everything.

I labeled it first as being only a Toy Story fic, but then later labeled it as a crossover on Ao3 because I wanted Blosc and Lightyear fans to see that here was a story for them too (even if it's not a true crossover). But I know people who exclude crossovers from their searches to filter out the more 'out there' crossovers (non Toy Story-related)- Don't get me wrong, I love those too. But it means they'll miss out on this Toy Story-centered fic, so I might change it back to just Toy Story, but leave tags for the Blosc/Lightyear characters.

Anywhosits, what do you guys think? What's the best label? Is it more of a crossover, AU, or an original take on all the media?

Hey, something came out to my mind. Does Woody get a own phone or people have to go to the central to talk with him? Will he be paid like other rangers or …?

Great question! Woody is considered like any average civilian working at Star Command, so I image he has a work communicator (phone basically), and is paid respectively for his rank and unit. Nebula gave him a personal communicator and allows him to live at Central for free if Woody wants, but Woody eventually gets his own place with Buzz as a roommate on Planet Titan. Even with his communicator tho, Woody still prefers in person conversations since it’s what he’s used to.

A lot of rangers think he gets special treatment bc he’s from another dimension, but really he’s no different from everyone else.

Woody does have an interesting Mentor/Mentee relationship with Commander Nebula. Which makes him the only Ranger that can get away with arguing with the Commander while everyone else is too scared to.

Friend: (eyeing my frail body) Physically?

Me: (chuckles) Oh no, I can't 'hurt' people. But, I can emotionally and psycologically criple them via layered devastation and raw anguish over a character with systematically escalating reinforced traumas that are vaguely similar to their own life experiences. Then, leave it on a cliffhanger. With no sequel.

I'm curious for your thoughts on OCs, as my fanfic is steadily gaining more and more OCs by the chapter it seems! I used to be one of those who preferred fanfics involving the main original cast with little to no OCs, and rarely read fics with Character/OC ships. But I'm coming to understand now that good OCs don't ruin a story, they enhance it. (As well as give the writer genuine practice in crafting their own Original Characters they can use in the future beyond fanfiction if they choose!)

I still majorly prefer fanfics with the canon characters as the focus and main cast, but now also enjoy a good OC (or several if needed) that help expand the story and show off the writer's little headcannoned world.

I now think of fanfics with OCs like watching a new movie in the franchise: Sequels always have some new characters that test and push the beloved main cast and expand the world. OCs are simply the new sequel characters.

For those reading Worlds Beyond Infinity (Main story and series), what do y'all think about the OCs so far? Too many? Do they feel like developed characters? (The new ones on Team Darkmatter will get more development and bg reveals as the chapters progress!)
