the sims 4: creating a custom aspiration category

hello! my first ever tutorial for the sims 4. :) if you’re like me and have been scouring the depths of the internet looking for some sort of guidance in trying to create a custom aspiration category for the sims 4 then here it is. i decided to write this up as i couldn’t find any comprehensive tutorials out there. hopefully this helps. 

before you begin:

what’s the difference between an aspiration category & an aspiration track? 

aspiration categories house aspiration tracks. for instance the aspiration category Knowledge houses 4 different aspiration tracks (Renaissance Sim, Archaeology Scholar, Computer Whiz, Nerd Brain, Spellcraft & Sorcery). creating a custom category is basically creating an entirely new house that you can then hold your very own custom aspiration track. 

i won’t be showing you how to create a custom aspiration track in this tutorial, but will be in the near future! now let’s continue on...

set up:

install mod constructor - make sure you have mod constructor installed on your pc, and follow any directions provided by zerbu

starting off:

open up mod constructor 4 on your pc by going into the folder you’ve installed it in, and double clicking on constructor. as you can see i’ve installed it in my documents>mod constructor 4 folder.

when mod constructor opens up (2a) click on the add element button. (2b) the window New Element will pop up. from here click on 2: Intermediate. (2c) next click on Aspiration Category. (2d) and finally click the create element button to begin making your custom aspiration category.

note: you can definitely rename the element name ‘Aspiration Category’ to whatever your heart desires before clicking the create element button.

to name your custom aspiration category simply change the text ‘Aspiration Category’ to whatever name you want. click on the llama icon to change the custom aspiration category icon that will show up next to your aspiration name.

this is the Select Image window that will pop up when you click on the llama icon. on the left hand side are the different folders with the corresponding icons in them. as you can see i’ve clicked on the ‘BG Headlines’ folder and have selected the banana peel icon. click the select image button after choosing your icon and close out of the window. 

congrats you’ve now just completed your custom aspiration category! i’ll be back with another tutorial on how to create a custom aspiration track to tie it all together.
