it is tiME to rest. take a break. i’m doing it. you should too - and, i mean doing something that will replenish your spoons, your cup, whatever you got to hold all the different kinds of energy.

i had a snack, i’ve got water i gotta drink before i eventually lay down and close my eyes for a bit, and i took my anxiety med.

and - it’s okay to need medication support ! but, if you don’t take it, because it either feels like a failure (it’s not) or you think you don’t need it (you probably do if you’re prescribed it), your anxiety doesn’t just go away on its own. there’s only two options. one, you do something about it like a med or skills and it resolves or lessens. or two, it gets ignored or smothered by something else like substance use or distraction and it might appear to be quieter or go away, but it’s still there. it’s just hiding.

and especially when it’s summer or a heat wave or if it’s possibly a stressful weekend ahead, you will tolerate stress and life a lot better if you take care of yourself and give yourself some cushion to bounce back with.

check in on yourself and others. think about HALT - are you hungry, angry, lonely, or tired? think about you and your environment - are you taking care of your physical health, eating and drinking enough, checking if you need a shower or a refresh, do you need to throw out some garbage in your space to feel a little more comfortable? if any of these things are missing or off, it will decrease your ability to tolerate stress. and stress comes in many different forms, including overthinking or worrying.

and if you need help doing these things, that is okay. you’re a human, and all humans need help in life. we don’t survive by being alone.

please take care, replenish and restore your mind and body even if all you can do is drink a glass of water. it’s a step in the right direction 🩶
