Yes but I wouldn’t recommend trying to brew them on your own and most you can buy easily are temporary and have side effects.

I see you at school and I have to say I find it really frustrating. Everyone in your group of friends is attractive in a fairly conventional sense, like they wouldnt be entirely ostracized by human society because they have generally human enough forms to get on well in humanity. I have nothing human about me. Noone in my group of friends does. I feel like there is an extreme divide within the monster community itself and I really don't know what to do. I want to say hi to you... but i am scared

There is definitely a divide. I’ve gotten flack for not being “monster enough” (I am only half monster after all) and I’d imagine that you’ve gotten quite a lot for being “too monster.” No matter who you are, there’s always going to be someone who doesn’t care for who or what you are and it’s our job to not give in and listen to them. We’re worth more than that.

I just wanted to say thanks for your blog! I didn't go to an integrated school- on the contrary, I grew up being taught some uh, pretty messed up stuff. I'm trying to learn and do better, but I definitely still mess up sometimes! It's really encouraging to know there are people like you who are super nice but still willing to call out nonsense when you see it!

Hey Franny, im having some trouble with my human friends. Overall theyre really great about being monsterphobic in that they realize they were raised thinking some really bad stuff and they try to fix it but they do slip up now and then and it really hurts when they do! Any tips?

So these are your friends, and not just some random strangers. In some ways that makes it easier because there’s a level of comfort there and you know you can talk to them, but in some ways it makes it harder because this isn’t just going to be a single interaction, what happens with them will carry over for however long you’re friends with them. You should definitely tell them about your concerns, if you don’t I think the friendship would become very uncomfortable. Just do your best to understand that changing the behavior they were raised with will take some time for them, but as long as they’re trying, I think you’ll all be okay!

Hi, Franny. You mentioned a few months back that talismans and potions weren't your specialty. I was curious what is. What sorts of magic are you trained in? (Is training really the word? I don't really know much about how non-witch magic works... also sorry if these are super rude questions to be asking. You just seem really open to talking about your experiences.)

My specific brand of magic is more... celestial than it is physical. I don't really brew potions or make talismans or use runes. Technically, I am not really a witch. My magic is more about light and space than it is about mixing ingredients or muttering incantations. It's not something I feel wholly comfortable divulging so I think I will stop here.

Anyway, as of yet, I haven't received much specific training -- just a class in high school, a couple after school seminars, and a workshop I'm in right now. None of these were really tailored to my kind of magic, though, and the teaching is usually geared towards more physical magics, which mine is not really. The workshop I'm in currently is a bit better, it's less about teaching specific methods of magic than it is about presenting problems and encouraging students to figure out ways around them.

Hello Miss! You appear to be a hard-working student, do you have any tips for studying for finals?

Personally, I am a big fan of scheduling out your time! Look at your calendar and your work load, divide it up into logical steps, and try to give yourself time for breaks, when possible. I find it's easiest to do my work and not procrastinate when i've broken everything down into manageable tasks so the whole thing doesn't seem quite so daunting. Then it's just a matter of following your schedule.
