Itâs almost been 4 months since youâve passed and thereâs not a day that goes by where I donât think about you. Thereâs so much I want to say to you and Iâll say it here.
When you first arrived here in the states, you and grandma chose to live a life closer to us. To be able to grow with your youngest grand children. Before us, you raised 6 boys and 1 girl. Those who grew up to be so strong willed and hard headed. More than likely traits that was adopted from grandma more than anything haha. Your kids eventually raised a family of their own and had children. You and grandma were truly blessed with so many grand kids that made you so proud in so many different ways. They became so successful in their own ways that Iâm sure you couldnât have imagine was possible.
After Grandma V passed, you and grandma made your way here to the states to help raise me and King. My parents were so busy at the time with work that they needed help to raise the both of us. Were still young at the time and were not able to manage on our own just yet. There was a huge communication barrier and I donât remember much of our conversations, but I will remember the language of your actions. You were really the true epitome of how actions can speak louder than words.
Your actions resonated a lot of love. I remember you use to always walk me to school. Youâd carry my backpack and I always roller bladed to school. I still remember your outfit those days. Itâd be a trucker hat, white t-shirt, some plaid slacks and some Reboks. Gah damn you were fitted hahahha. The walk from our house to the school was fairly short. Youâd wait at that light on Philadelphia and Telephone until you couldnât see me anymore. Iâd always peek back to see if you were still there and you were always there.
You were always there for me whenever I got out of school too! Youâd always cook me and king bacon and eggs right after school. Sometimes itâd be egg and top raomen noodles. That discovery was a blessing btw as it has saved me stomach over the years. Iâll never forget those days where you would watch baseball every single afternoon. I hated baseball, but to be around you while I sit and look at all my pokemon cards mattered because you were there Grandpa.
Another thing that Iâll never forget is how you were always there for me whenever me and my dad clashed. I remember after every argument, Iâd look at you and the one thing that brought me back down to Earth was how you always shook your head and laughed at the situation. Right then and there, thatâs how I always knew I was right. You always laughed at how ridiculous it be haha.
Thereâs really nothing more that I want right now than to be by your grave and reminisce the stories that we had with one another. I want to save my thank you for when Iâm next to you. Iâll always be restless until that day happens. Hopefully this pandemic ends sooner rather than later.
I hope to see you soon Tatang. I miss you and I love you. Rest Easy.
