You can enjoy fandom on your own and don’t need friends etc etc etc and, yes, obviously that’s true if that’s what makes you happiest. But it can also be true that making a friend, having people to talk to, collaborating with other people and so forth is what makes fandom (not just being a fan of a thing) worthwhile for a lot of people.

As someone who tends to self-isolate, in an era where isolation is rampant among people in general, sometimes that tag game or engaging comment makes a real difference. I think those for whom participating on their own is enough are already doing that by and large and advice and support for people who want something different but don’t know how to get it is also okay 🤷‍♀️
