Day 16 of 100 days of practice. The collection of pieces “Castles of Spain” by Torroba has always been part of my repertoire for practice, gigs, and just “pretty” sigh-readable music. In “Montemayor (Romance de los Pinos) there’s opportunity to polish slurs and practice smoother shifts while maintaining a well balanced voice leading. Day 12 of 100 days of practice. This section of La Catedral - III. Allegro Solemne presents a compound melody inconspicuously hiding under the 16th note texture. This melody is the backbone of this section. Day 11 of 100 days of practice AND version (no repeats) of Ministudy No.1 by @michaelkeplingerguitarist. This short study is awesome for working on RH’s (m) finger accentuation - voice separation- and also the (p,i,m,a,m,i) arpeggio pattern. The harmonics need to come out clear while shifting smoothly with your LH. Day 8 of 100 days of practice. From Tansman’s Cavatina, this obscure yet sublime sample; movement IV - Barcarole. In video 1️⃣ practicing gentle RH touch and rounded tone using free stroke. In video 2️⃣ working on the opening section, it’s all about sustain and good LH fingerings. Day 4 of 100 days of practice. Today’s is a special feature: a sneak peek of the closing section of my Violin and Guitar Miniature, III. The Seafarer - it presents some tricky harmonics vs. nat lines where RH aim and precision is key to achieving the delicate counterpoint unraveling throughout section. Day 2 of 100 days of practice. Today I went “Bach” and dusted off one of the 2 part inventions (E minor, BWV 778) for an upcoming gig with @merryleapinlizard (Venegas Duo). I made this arrangement almost a year ago - on today’s session I re-wrote all fingerings to add campanella to most aplicable passages. Quite challenging but ultimately a great exercise to apply when revisiting older rep. Had a magnificent evening with very special friends. Music was played from Turkey, Venezuela, etc, as well as original music by @celilrefikkayaguitar, and lots of taqsim. @amanda.g.kaya and @merryleapinlizard showed off their guitar skills and played bowed instruments.
