Greg + ass call that grass
Father's Day Jam Session
The golden sunset bathed the wooden porch in warm orange light. String lights hung overhead, gently swaying in the evening breeze. A banner reading "Happy Father's Day!" stretched behind two fathers from very different worlds.
Taiyang Xiao Long adjusted the tuning pegs of his acoustic guitar while Greg Universe happily strummed a few chords.
Greg: "Heh. You know, this is probably the weirdest Father's Day I've ever had."
Taiyang: "Really? You once dated an alien goddess."
Greg: "...Okay, second weirdest."
Both men laughed.
Greg leaned back in his chair.
Greg: "So your daughters are named Ruby and Yang, right?"
Taiyang: "Yep."
Greg: "And they're both monster-fighting superheroines?"
Taiyang: "Pretty much."
Greg: "Steven's gonna be jealous when I tell him that."
Taiyang chuckled.
Taiyang: "Trust me. Being the father of heroes isn't always as cool as it sounds."
Greg: "Tell me about it."
The two exchanged a knowing look.
The Dad Club
Greg began playing a cheerful melody.
Greg: "You ever get that feeling where your kid saves the world and you just stand there wondering how they got so big?"
Taiyang: "Every day."
Greg: "Right?!"
Taiyang: "One minute Yang was setting the curtains on fire because she thought she was helping cook dinner."
Greg: "Oh no."
Taiyang: "The next minute she was punching giant monsters in the face."
Greg: "Steven once accidentally turned my car into a giant watermelon."
Taiyang: "...How?"
Greg: "I still don't know."
Taiyang: "Fair enough."
Comparing Notes
Greg strummed another chord.
Greg: "So which daughter gives you more headaches?"
Taiyang immediately answered.
Taiyang: "Yang."
Greg: "That fast?"
Taiyang: "Didn't even have to think about it."
Greg: "Wow."
Taiyang: "Ruby's adventurous. Yang actively searches for trouble."
Greg: "Sounds like Steven."
Taiyang: "Then you understand my suffering."
Greg: "Brother, I absolutely understand."
They bumped fists.
The Legendary Hair Discussion
Greg looked at Taiyang's blond hair.
Greg: "You know, your hair is incredible."
Taiyang: "Thanks."
Greg: "What's your secret?"
Taiyang: "Genetics."
Greg: "Dang."
Taiyang pointed toward Greg's magnificent mane.
Taiyang: "You've got no room to talk."
Greg proudly flipped his hair.
Greg: "This took years of dedication."
Taiyang: "And apparently zero concern for shampoo expenses."
Greg: "A worthy sacrifice."
Dad Worries
The laughter slowly faded into a quieter moment.
The sunset painted the sky in shades of pink and gold.
Greg's fingers moved gently across the strings.
Greg: "You ever worry about them?"
Taiyang's smile softened.
Taiyang: "Every day."
Greg nodded.
Greg: "Me too."
For a moment neither spoke.
Taiyang: "Ruby likes to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders."
Greg: "Steven does that too."
Taiyang: "Really?"
Greg: "Yeah. Sometimes good people think they have to fix everything."
Taiyang sighed.
Taiyang: "Sounds familiar."
Greg: "The hardest part of being a dad is realizing you can't solve every problem for them."
Taiyang stared at the horizon.
Taiyang: "You can only be there when they need you."
Greg: "Exactly."
The two shared another quiet nod.
The Guitar Duel
Greg suddenly grinned.
Greg: "Enough serious stuff."
Taiyang: "Oh?"
Greg: "Guitar battle."
Taiyang: "You're on."
Both immediately launched into a fast-paced jam session.
Greg played a lively rock rhythm.
Taiyang followed with surprisingly skilled fingerwork.
Greg: "Not bad!"
Taiyang: "Not bad?!"
Greg: "I've played concerts!"
Taiyang: "I've fought giant monsters!"
Greg: "What does that have to do with guitars?!"
Taiyang: "Everything!"
They laughed as the music grew louder.
Unexpected Visitors
A golden portal suddenly opened nearby.
Out stepped Ruby Rose.
Ruby: "Dad?"
Taiyang nearly dropped his guitar.
Taiyang: "Ruby?!"
Another pink portal opened.
Steven Universe emerged carrying a box.
Steven: "There you are, Dad!"
Greg stood up.
Greg: "Steven!"
Moments later Yang Xiao Long appeared.
Yang: "Seriously? You found another cool dad and didn't invite us?"
Taiyang: "It was a Father's Day thing!"
Yang: "That's not an answer."
Ruby immediately noticed Greg.
Ruby: "Wait. You're Greg Universe!"
Greg: "Uh... yes?"
Ruby: "Steven told me all about you!"
Steven: "Hi!"
Ruby: "Hi!"
Within seconds they were all chatting.
Taiyang buried his face in his hands.
Taiyang: "How did they find us?"
Greg: "Kids always find us."
The Father's Day Surprise
Steven opened the box.
Inside was a custom plaque.
It read:
WORLD'S GREATEST DADS
Ruby smiled.
Ruby: "We wanted to thank you."
Yang nodded.
Yang: "You guys don't hear it enough."
Steven grinned.
Steven: "You're our heroes too."
For a moment, both fathers were speechless.
Greg rubbed his eyes.
Greg: "Aw, man."
Taiyang looked away.
Yang: "Dad, are you crying?"
Taiyang: "No."
Ruby: "You totally are."
Taiyang: "It's the sunlight."
Yang: "It's nighttime."
Taiyang: "It's very powerful sunlight."
Greg burst out laughing.
Finale
As the stars appeared overhead, everyone gathered together.
Greg began playing a gentle tune.
Taiyang joined him.
Ruby hummed along.
Steven sang.
Yang drummed on the porch railing.
The music echoed into the warm summer night.
Greg smiled.
Greg: "You know, Taiyang, I think this might actually be my weirdest Father's Day."
Taiyang: "Worth it?"
Greg looked at Steven.
Taiyang looked at Ruby and Yang.
Both fathers smiled.
Greg: "Absolutely."
Taiyang: "Absolutely."
The guitars continued playing beneath the stars as fathers and children celebrated together—grateful for family, friendship, and the adventures that had brought them there.
Happy Father's Day. 🎸☀️💎❤️

i wish we couldve seen more of greg and vidalia’s relationship bc they are SO funny. in my ideal world they have like the worst mixed family situation ever
Also i’m a firm believer sour cream as a kid was just as bad if not Worse than onion bc 1. vidalia is Abnormally unfazed by whatever onion has going on so she must have already been used to it SOMEHOW and 2. bro climbed a whole fucking ferris wheel at like a year old and he was just chilling there
And Greg! for abel
Dating Greg Would Involve...
Steven always comes first and you’re going to have to understand that if you’re dating. Greg loves you, he really does, but he has to be there for his son when he needs him. If you’re out on a date and Pearl calls him to tell him Steven is sick, he feels terrible but he’s gotta go. He doesn’t have the same freedom when he was younger so dating is hard, but whenever he sees you’re just as concerned as he is and you’re willing to go straight to Steven with him or stay away if you must he realizes he could see you two together for the rest of your lives…
Steven is your biggest fan and shipper. Seriously. His dad has spent way too long mourning his mother and needs to follow in Pearl’s steps and move on. It’s what Rose would have wanted.
Even though he has money now, Greg still has the car wash open. He’d feel bad just completely abandoning his job so most of your time together is spent at the wash. The traffic is… Slow, to say the least. You guys basically just sit outside with each other and talk, snack, and wash the occasional car that comes through. It’s surprisingly fun and calming so you can tell why Greg still does it, plus it’s good for conversation whenever you see a cool car you both like.
“Did you see that?” “Yes!”
In your shared free time you sit on the edge of his van on the beach watching him play the guitar, lazily running your toes through the sand while he sings a song he just came up with. You guys can be out there for hours, so make sure Greg puts sunscreen on. C’mon, you’ve seen how red the man is and that HAS to hurt.
Nothing better than a mini concert just for you!
