“Frankie…” It came out more as a whisper, as if he needed to say it again to make it believable–that he was actually looking at the woman he had been pouring his heart to for the last several months, the woman he had deep feelings for, the woman he was going to hold and cherish for the rest of his life. Just seeing her in person made that even more certain. 

Jamie smiled back, his heart racing. “I figured a small town like this, it had one hospital,” he told her, shrugging his shoulders playfully. “Your name was on the door, too. I just…I had this feeling that it was you.” He wanted to approach closer to her, wrap his arms around her, but her comment made him stop from doing so. “I-I’ll be fine. I’m here to bust you out,” he said, slowly making his way closer to Frankie. “How…” He swallowed thickly, wishing he didn’t need to ask this. “How bad is it, Frankie? Can you move much? H-how’s the baby?” 

Frankie looked over towards Jamie, blinking as if to make sure he wouldn’t vanish if she blinked, that he was really here. She raised her eyebrows as he mentioned breaking her out of the hospital. “Yeah? I mean, I wanna get out of here but I don’t know how you are going to convince the doctors to let me go.” She pushed herself up carefully in the bed as best as she could with her broken arm. She frowned slightly as she carefully laid back against the bed. “It’s...not great. Broken arm, fractured ankle, couple broken ribs and bruising pretty much everywhere.” She said as she rested a hand on her bump. “Baby is fine. I made sure to protect her.” She looked back towards him, reaching her hand out towards him. 

“I’m still worried about you Jamie. If he figures out you are here...I just don’t want him to hurt you...”  Frankie added, grabbing his hand when he was close enough. “Are you really here to take me away? Cause I wanna go with you...Please...” She said, feeling tears threatening to fall as she looked up at him.

“Where is she?” Jamie demanded the second he got to the front desk of the hospital. He knew he had to fly out to Alabama immediately after that phone call, and although the plane ride was long and stressful, he was determined to get to Frankie. Nothing was going to stop him. “Someone who goes by Frankie should’ve checked in the last several hours,” he continues at the nurse, buzzing with adrenaline and his thoughts were a whirlwind. “Please, I need to know what room–” Glancing over at some doors automatically opening when a doctor stepped through, Jamie took advantage and hurried through them before they closed again, the nurse shouting after him. 

He quickly looked at the patient rooms he was passing by, looking for Frankie’s name on any of them. He must’ve passed a dozen rooms, but he wasn’t giving up. He couldn’t. When he got around the corner, he finally found it. Frankie’s room. Her name was on the door, and just for a second, Jamie hesitated. What if it was worse than he thought? What if she didn’t want to actually see him? What if she wasn’t who she said she was? 

Shaking those thoughts away, Jamie slowly opened the door, stepping inside. His breath got caught in his throat at the sight of a woman in the hospital bed. He swallowed thickly. He knew it was her, he just had a feeling. “Frankie…?“ 

Frankie honestly was having a hard time even remembering much of what had happened, though her doctors presumed it was trying to block out any trauma. She had laid down on the bed, staring at the wall. She had told the police that she couldn’t remember who did it. That her memory just wasn’t there but she knew who had done it. She was just scared of what would happen to her and the baby if she had told the police that it was her boyfriend..again. That it was always him. She listened to the beeping of the fetal heartbeat monitor and smiled to herself as she heard it beeping and let her hand rest on her bump, trying not to think of anything else that could make things worse. 

The injury list was longer than Frankie had ever had it before and it was scaring her a little bit, worried that the abuse was only getting worse and would only be worse. She had a broken arm, some broken ribs, what the doctor thought was a moderate concussion, some nasty bruises that hurt worse then she had ever experienced before, and a fractured ankle. She was sure there was more than that but nothing else that needed attention. She knew she looked bad, the bruises covered her face and almost her entire body. She wasn’t worried about herself though. She was more worried about the baby which she was told was fine. 

Frankie turned her head, hearing her nickname, one that only one person called her and she couldn’t help but smile as she looked at the person who came in. “Jamie? What are you doing here? How’d you find me?” She asked, looking him over. “Wait..he could be watching..I can’t let him get to you too...”

Jamie: [He closed his eyes and took a deep breath to get his heartbeat to slow back down.] Wow...you're having a baby.

Jamie: Oh, Frankie...of course I still love you. It's...it's a surprise, for sure. [He chuckled lightly.] But if it's us...we can figure it out. Unless you got any other bombs to drop, I'll still love you. I have loved you for a long time, babe.

Frankie: Yeah, I know. It took me a long time to wrap my head around it. It uh...didn't come about...willingly per say but I love the little bean.

Frankie: I'm keeping it by the way, the baby...so if you came to get me..just know..that the baby comes with it.

Frankie: No other bombs...I promise. I love you too. [A moment goes by and an angry voice comes throught the phone. "FRANCINE! WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING TO. I LOVE YOU...WHAT THE HELL IS THAT???!!". She drops the phone and backs up as much as she could. "wait.. Nick... please.. don't...." She begged, crying could be heard through the phone, screaming as she begged him to stop until the phone was cut off after Nick stepped on it.]

Jamie: [His heart started racing.] I-I love you, too, Frankie. I'm yours.

Jamie: [He waited for her admission, heart in his throat - and then he nearly choked, a million thoughts running through his mind.] Holy sh--really? Pregnant? [Sitting up, he ran a hand through his hair, trying to keep hismelf calm.] H-how long?

Frankie: I'm yours too.

Frankie: Y-yeah. I am. [She said as she anxiously played with the hem of her shirt.] I'm uh...about 4 and a half months along..you can um..definitely, tell. [She pushed herself up.] Do...do you still love me?

Jamie: Something else? [Swallowing thickly, he prepared himself for the worst.] Okay, okay...listen to me, Frankie. I know I snapped when you dropped that first bomb, but...I like you, okay?

Jamie: I want to see you and hold you and...finally call you mine. I'm not going anywhere. I promise.

Frankie: Yeah.... [She said softly, nervousness throught her voice] Ok ummm

Frankie: I really like you too, even um..love you..as long as you promise...[She takes a moment before letting out a breath.]

Frankie: I'm pregnant...

Jamie: ...What if I do? Come get you in the middle of the night, I mean?

Jamie: I've always called you babe, don't you tell me you don't like it.

Frankie: I'd go with you. In a heartbeat

Frankie: But..there's...there's something else you need to know before making that kind of decision...

Frankie: I'm...I don't want you to run away when I tell you...I'm scared.

Frankie: I do like it. you caught me.

Jamie: Soon, I hope. I can't believe we've been talking for so long that it hasn't happened yet.

Jamie: Just tell me the time and place, babe. [he grins into the phone, his eyes scanning the sky and wondering if Frankie's watching the very same one.]

Frankie: I know. I mean, we really should meet but...

Frankie: Nick..he uh..wouldn't let that happen....

Frankie: Not unless you literally come get me in the middle of the night.

Frankie: Babe huh? I mean...whenever. [She smiled and looked up at the sky.]

Jamie: [he laughs] Well I hope that holds true when we finally meet.

Frankie: I'm sure it will.

Frankie: When do we get to officially meet?

Jamie: [he playfully scoffs] Oh please, I'm literally listening to you right now, Frankie.

Jamie: Hmmm, and what if I was? Would you swoon? [he pauses, biting his lip] I swear I'm not this smooth in person.

frankie: mhm...sure.

frankie: I just might. I highly doubt that. You're pretty smooth

Jamie: Mm, you sound better, though. [he grins to himself]

Jamie: No worries. I've had this block for a couple weeks, but... suddenly I'm bursting with motivation from just hearing you.

Frankie: Nah, I doubt that. [She smiled softly as she stared at the sky.]

Frankie: So are you telling me I'm your muse or something?

[Jamie chuckles, settling completely into the grass, staring up at the night sky]:

Jamie: Oh good, I was worried I'd sound obnoxious. It's wonderful to hear yours, too, Frankie...

Jamie: I'm okay. I had a bit of an artist's block, but I think I'm feeling a lot better now that we're actually talking.

Frankie: No, you sound great.

Frankie: aww, I'm sorry. I'm no artist in that sense but that sucks. Yeah?

[She smiled softly into the phone as she looked at the sky]:

[Jamie steps out of the apartment building to lay on a patch of grass, heart racing while answering the phone]:

Jamie: Hi... [clears throat, smiling at the sound of Frankie's voice]

[Frankie smiled at the sound of Jamie's voice]:

Frankie: Wow...it's great to hear your voice.

Frankie: How are you?

[Frankie goes outside to lay on the grass and looks up at the sky, dialing the number Jamie had sent once and waited for the other to pick up]:

Frankie: Hello?

justjamie: mmm, no you don't :P or else you wouldn't want to kiss me.

frankieknowsbest: true.

frankieknowsbest: Hey...you wanna look at the stars now?

frankieknowsbest: I gotta hear your voice.

justjamie: you're cute when you're flustered, too. sorry not sorry, babe :*

justjamie: still, though. I like to make sure.

frankieknowsbest: well, it's appreciated.

justjamie: awww, I bet you're adorable when you blush. all the more reason to kiss you ;)

justjamie: I'm glad. I just...please tell me if I ever step over a line. I never want to make you feel uncomfortable around me.
