1969 Dodge Charger 500
1969 Dodge Charger 500
The Dodge Charger 500, released in 1969, was a rare and aerodynamic version of the muscle car icon built to dominate NASCAR. Unlike the standard Charger, the 500 featured a flush-mounted grille from the Coronet and a fastback rear window—both changes made to reduce drag on the high banks. Only around 500 units were made to meet NASCAR homologation rules. Most came with the 440 Magnum V8, but a few were fitted with the legendary 426 HEMI. The Charger 500 paved the way for the Daytona and remains a rare, high-performance gem in Mopar history.
