Hi there! I'm Stabs (also known as Mars). I'm very Canadian, and in just the last ten years I've lived in Winnipeg, Toronto, and Montreal! I currently live in Halifax, Nova Scotia!

I have a lil writers' assistant who's name is Casey (#casey-the-cuddlebug) and he is a year and a half old and mostly beagle and he is my fur son and the cutest baby ever (dog tax below)

I've got aphantasia and my Instant Family universe is the first time I've written OCs in a while because I struggle to conceptualize original characters!

stabthroughme is my second tumblr/ao3 as I initially wanted to keep my works separate, and then I stopped using my original ao3/tumblr 🤣 On my initial ao3 I had a series of Major Character Death tagged fics I've written, I'm known for being angsty and delighting in causing emotional pain so that's definitely going to be a through line in p much all my fics (minus the only fluff fics). I'm very careful about tags, and if major/common triggers are going to be in a multi-chaptered fic I will always list them in the chapter notes as well as tags.

No more sleeping with my phone within reach because I was having an extremely vivid dream that I was the victim of some sort of mass-poisoning. the notorious poisoner? "The Centipede Cult." They used a specific type of poison, referred to only by its chemical nomenclature, which I somehow remembered perfectly upon waking. It went: □□ Na({}^{2})

Because that makes sense. Anyway, this poison would submit me to its well-known and much-feared symptom: "17 Day Paralysis" in which you're paralyzed for exactly 17 days and you only chance of survival is to be on full machine support for 17 days.

Just before the medical team intubated me I remembered I have a Zoom meeting with my academic advisor today (I actually do in real life) and I needed to email him to let him know I was the victim of a mass-poisoning and would need to reschedule.

I kept trying to type the "□" symbol in my dream but could not figure out how and gave up.

I woke up in real life to find I'd begun drafting an email in my sleep to my professor in the Gmail app. I was apparently using talk-to-text (I often do because of my hand neuropathy) but speaking in Irish, which talk-to-text never understands, so other than the words in English "poison" and "centipede" the entire email was complete nonsense.

the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.

number one thing i want for public bathrooms is for them to be unisex accessible safe private and clean. number two thing i want for pubic bathrooms is for them to have flat surfaces in the stalls you can put your handheld items down on when youre shittin. ive encountered it in like two bathrooms ever and it changed my life for real.

I think it would be fun if both of them found out in real time that Shane does not like getting slapped in the face. He loves rough sex, getting spanked, he loves when Ilya digs his fingers into bruisies, into reddened skin. It sends zips up his spine, makes him arch even more into Ilya's hands etc. So during they situasionship era they try face slapping because hey it is practically given that they will both love it. But instead of happy, floaty tears, actual tears spring up into Shane's eyes and he is so shocked by how much he didn't like it he voices it immedietely and his voice wobbles even (which makes him feel humiliated Also in a bad way) and Ilya is literally mid thrust, dick so hard there is bo blood anywhere else in his body so Shane's little "i didn't like that" breathy, wobbly and vurnerable makes his short circuit and it basically hard wires him in that moment to always do what Shane wants when Real Tears TM show up in his eyes. They make love after, Shane apologizing for not liking something they tried, Ilya apologizing for trying it in the first place. They are a mess. But brains get rewired that night.

Later when they are married Shane gets angry at Ilya for being easily "manipulated" by Shane's teary eyes when they argue and sometimes Shane would just turn his back on Ilya to continue arguing that way so Ilya wouldn't see. "Sweetheart it does not matter if i can't see, i know when you turn around!" And Shane tells him to shut the fuck up.

I love face slapping but ohhhhh this is so good!! Hollanov playing around with emotional hand grenades by doing such intense sexual experimenting during a point in their relationship when they are still "casual" and not communicating about their feelings at all, and then being shocked when one of them actually goes off and it blows up in both their faces.

Also cryingg at Shane suddenly turning his back on Ilya mid-argument (probably mid-sentence lbr) because he can feel the tears coming. I feel like this would knock the wind out of Ilya's sails even faster because now on top of his husband crying, he's also trying to hide it from Ilya 😭😭
