Hey friends! I'll start publishing the pages from this comic pretty soon, early June in fact. I'll be publishing them in weekly batches, like 1-4 pages each week, depending on where it makes sense to stop. I'll be giving Patreon subs early access to the next update, as well as other behind the scenes things and stuff! But the entire comic will be free to read eventually, of course. My goal is to create a cool community so we can share the stuff we make, so I'm also planning on creating a Discord server. Still haven't decided on all the details, but I'm planning and planning! Keep an eye for updates, and thanks for your interest :)

Another comparison between no colors vs Monochrome palette, seeing them side by side, I think it was a worth the effort to color all pages like this. I definitely underestimated how much work it was going to be but I’ve found ways to speed things up, which will come in handy for the next project! That’s right, we’re already working on another comic that will be published after this one. Anyway, we need to figure out how we’ll go about publishing this one first…

I skipped coloring this page for a while because I couldn’t decide if I wanted to commit to fully coloring it, in the end I decided to do it anyway since it was probably going to be a lot of work regardless, I wish I had more time to fully shade and render every detail! I still think it looks good with just flat colors though :)

I decided to fully color a few pages to establish the color schemes of the main characters. This is the first appearance of the main villain, and I wanted to get across the fact that he is made of gold and shiny all the time, and that could’ve been possible in monochrome but I just wanted to do some colored pages for fun. Anyway, progress is going slowly but surely.

In addition to adding a bit of color for depth, I’m also adding more stuff to the backgrounds so they don’t look as barren, as well as fixing minor things. I’m trying to not get too hung up on it, as I’d like to be done with this project sooner rather than later, but sometimes it’s hard to resist the urge to completely redraw something! Anyway, these final touch ups are taking me a while because I’ve been way busier than normal, but I think things will start to slow down soon.

After a few tests, I think I’ll go with something similar to this, three tones of gray with maybe a bit of crosshatching and screentone to add depth to the panels. With the occasional full colored thing here and there. What do you think?

Good news, I have finished cleaning up every page of this comic, hooray! 53 pages in total. I’m currently trying out different ways to add color to the pages but so far I haven’t found anything I find both appealing and not too time consuming, because a) We’re already moving onto a different project and b) I don’t want to keep working on this silly little comic for another year by fully coloring each and every panel - I do think the pages could use a little something more though, so I’ll keep experimenting. Anyway, expect a batch release soon-ish!

A random collection of panels with backgrounds! I’ve definitely grown more comfortable drawing them as time went on :)

By the way, I only need to clean one more page and the whole thing will be finished, but, I want to add a bit of color to the pages. I still haven’t decided how much, or how it will look like yet - also, we’re starting to think about how to go about publishing it (as in share it online) posting everything at once in a huge batch? Separate the story into chapters and share it weekly? idk but sharing one page a week is probably a terrible idea.

We started to work on the comic 1 year ago, so I made this little thing to celebrate.

It’s been something we’ve been doing in the background while other things happen too, plus I also have a regular job on top, so progress hasn’t been the fastest, but I’ve never been so sure that something I’m working on is going to be finished properly, and I’m pretty excited about that! Even if it’s just a silly little comic, it means a lot to me. Anyway, thanks for following my sneak peeks here and there during this year, I’m super happy whenever I get any kind of engagement from sharing what I love to do :) Hopefully I can wrap it up soon.
