With the reappearance of Dramione I saw on TikTok and other sites, and lots of hate that Drinny got, I just feel like Drinny was a thing years ago.
And it makes me sad, because I could never get behind Dramione - she is muggleborn and stubborn and I just don’t see her with someone like Draco? With Harry, Ron or other Weasley boys, yeah sure. Even Snape hahah.
But Draco/Ginny was and is one of my OTPs. It’s like Romeo and Juliet for me! Like, a true one. Not like Dramione, which isn’t like that AT ALL. Like, Weasleys and Malfoys are enemies! A perfect romance haha.
I like Ron/Draco more than Dramione any day of the week. But still, I don’t judge people who sheep it, I just personally don’t see it.
And Ginny will always be Virginia for me lol
I too think Ginny and Draco are just perfect mirrors, the perfect opposite attracts, the way Hermione and Draco can never be.
Both Ginny and Draco come from ancient wizarding families with a rich history, however, their experiences of growing up in wizarding world can't be more different. In my opinion, their 'class difference' but still being part of the 'same world' sets their worldview in a very similar yet different way. Draco is privileged yet restricted in how can and can't behave while Ginny gets more freedom yet is constricted due to her social standing. They can learn a lot from each other and grow old in harmony, give one another things they lack.
It's true that Ginny has a huge family and Draco is an only child, however, Ginny is the only daughter in a family of boys. She's certainly gotten somewhat of a special treatment (if one can call it that) since she was loved a lot by both parents. In that manner she and Draco can certainly relate how it feels to be constantly coddled.
Both Ginny and Draco are okay with bending/breaking rules. Their reasons to break rules might be different, but their mischievous conspiratorial personalities shines through.
For example, Ginny is not above hexing someone, she's hot headed and knows how to fight back. She stands up to Luna's bullies, hexes Draco etc. He, on the other hand would be on bullying end of things, however point is, who's better than Ginny to stand up to Draco and put him in his place.
This brings me to wit, one of the things Harry likes about her is her sharp tongue, her sense of humour. Something that will contrast perfectly with Draco's mean remarks, they're the kinda couple who'll have the banter, the scathing remarks, passionate heated arguments... Its all just too easy to imagine with them.
Height Difference. I know this one is not that important, but, Ginny is athletic, smoll and fierce. 🔥 Draco is tall, elegant and regal 😈. Their contrast just begs to be explored.
The fact that they both like quidditch. Having things in common is important, there needs to be certain similarities, some ground work... Yet they're on opposite teams. They do opposite attracts so much better, I am shook how most of the fandom can't see it.
The generations long family rivalry. EXCUSE ME??? this point itself should be a reason to ship them. The foundation is so strong here, for drama, for conflict, for ANSGT, for a secretive relationship. A SCANDAL of the highest order. The potential, the power that that has. Sighs when will people see it?
The reason Drinny is better is because it works even without Voldemort being in the picture. The generations long family rivalry and social class differences are on their own a massive, massive reason for them to work and be explored. Take Voldemort and Prejudice against muggle borns out and dramione doesn't really have that much going on for them. 🤷🏻♀️
So yeah when people ask me why I ship Drinny over dramione, its simple, Drinny does everything dramione can do, but better and then some. Drinny is just superior. Period.
Again have no issue with dramione shippers but yeah, Drinny deserves more recognition cause fandom is missing out on all the fun.
