I skipped all the other days and probably will be my last one because I don't want to take too long on another one.

FRATT - A christmas carol - part one

"The law failed again. Another innocent dead again. The Punisher could have done something. Would have done something if Daredevil didn't intervene because his morals would not allow him to kill these lowlives.

Him on his high horse. Might as well be responsible for this death. Frank didn't want to fight during this time of year. He swallows the regret for his choice of words down like the gift-wrapped liquor that burns his throat. Frank drinks himself to sleep that night."

FRATT - A christmas carol - part two

Three spirits visited Frank that night. The first was a bright young fighter spouting nonsense about justice. He wants to become a Lawyer. Save people. Make a better World. Frank scoffed at his innocence, called him childish. Got called a killer in return.

The second visitor was a boisterous devil. Vigilant and unyielding. He fights in two worlds, throwing punches or pulling paragraphs. Says he still has faith but condemns Franks actions. Frank sneers at his hypocrisy, called him choirboy. Got a speech in return.

The third ghost was something entirely else...

Notes: This christmas carol is NOT about Matt convincing Frank that killing is bad but about what could be if Frank convinces Matt to kill.

Parallels to the Charles Dickens story: (beware - I'm not a perfect analyst) The ghost of christmas past is also portrayed child-like with a candle? So a correlation to the bright burning fire young Matt has/had in his past.

ghost of christmas present is like a celebration hence the christmas party panel from the comics. adult!Matt loves his friends. daredevil fight for the goodwill of the people. the poor. I looked some quotes up from the original and don't remember "ignorance and want" but I quite like to share this quote here:

"This boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want. Beware them both, and all of their degree, but most of all beware this boy, for on his brow I see that written which is Doom, unless the writing be erased." So that's a nice little nod at daredevil who is "one bad day away from being me"(quote punisher)

Additional notes: a friend once said, if I explain more behind my art it gets better? so first of all: the text to the art is from Franks perspective if that wasn't already clear. most things are from franks subconscious.

second: Matt is moving away from Frank in each panel underlining that they're drifting apart. Frank mostly stays where he is and the numbers stay the same, because his beliefs/morals are steadfast like that. he gets closer in each panel, because the last panel is supposed to be a "shift in his perspective".

The ghost of christmas yet to come showed Frank an impossible future. Of a gun wielding devil that kills. No one dares no more. Just like Frank always goads him to do.

Frank should be content. This unfamiliar devil says he changed for the better with an unsettling smirk. He finally understood what Frank did. That it was necessary. When asked what happened, this broken devil kept silent.

Nothing much scares the Punisher except a good man having nothing to lose. He doesn't recognize the person in front of him. Can't shake the eerie feeling of wrongness staring back at him through unseeing eyes. The steadiness of each movement like inevitable death making the hairs on Franks neck stand up.

He never wanted this. He'd rather prevent it. Will prevent it. When asked why, the Punisher kept silent.

Notes: Now for the hurt! The whole point was to let Frank see that a killing daredevil is not what he wants. I'd like to point you to my favorite chapter Daredevil (2019) #4, where Frank approved of an alleged murder that Matt did or didn't do (no spoilers here) and once again points out Matts hypocrisy about not being above the law but still breaking criminals rips and all.

To quote Frank: "Liking what I've been noticing. The "freak" with the "code" finaly seeing the light -- doing what needs to be done."

Some very good back and forth (GO READ IT!), a fight breaks out, DD gets hold of two guns, double wielding, incapacitating frank and leaving afterwards.

Quoting the initial inspiration from Matt: "Frank -- do you have any idea? Any idea at all what I can do? The level of carnage I could unleash with a gun in my hand? The number of dead if I decided to be like you?

It's no contest, Frank. You're amateur hour. You're a demon, sure -- but I'm the devil."

And honestly, wow. How deadly would a killer be if he wouldn't need to look directly at his target? Can sense his target through walls, streets away? Frank is amateur hour.

oh another note: In this future scenario, Matt likely lost his friends, his conviction, his faith, lost Frank. And somebody needs to step into his shoes. So that's a darker twisted Daredevil, no longer being Matt, his old life is dead with all his friends. His horns a longer, sharper, one is broken. This DD dons the punisher skull on his chest, continuing his work. so an impossible future.

Summary: A close call on a mission, made for a difficult decision. The kind that is life or death, and it wasn’t a hard one for Frank to make when Matt was on the other end of that line. Wowie!!! I managed to do all 7 days!

What’s my prize? A cookie or a smack on the back of the head cuz I slacked off w my studying? Regardless, I hope this is a good enough piece to wrap up this little challenge. I struggle to be consistent especially w deadlines so managing to do all 7 prompts (and on time) to me is crazy. I experimented a lot in the past days and I hope you guys enjoyed the results as much as I enjoyed the process!
