“you’ll find she spends a great deal of her time at that gaudy club on main.”
“I’m going to need a little more because there are plenty of clubs on main.”
“yes, see what you can do with that.” the paper was handed over without another thought.
Hudson studied the person and as he was reading, he spoke to his former employer. “Where can I find this woman?”
“Do you want to go get a drink?”
“I already have one. How about I buy you another.”
“useless, useless, useless.”
“I assume that’s why you asked for me to come and handle whatever that is.”

Following the texts, he wasn’t expecting her to respond back anyways. There was no saying what had come over him, what had possessed him to reveal everything to her. There was nothing more than a week left before their divorce and he could easily have kept everything to himself until that moment. But somehow that woman managed to provoke him in all the wrong times, but also had a control over him that others didn’t. Even when he supposedly hated her, though recently he had started to wonder if he had ever hated her or was just behaving like a child with a crush, she had been in his mind 24/7. And though the past few weeks he had been trying to make her see a different side to him, the night they had spent together being the culmination of his efforts. Yet all she saw in him was the monster, and it wasn’t as though he could blame her. He had killed the man that she worked with, destroyed her career and her personal life all because she had been in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was childish perhaps but never before had Hudson felt the need to atone for his crimes—to actually ponder them and feel guilt. And so once they had slept together, there had been a glimmer of hope that was quickly crushed as he realized that she saw that as nothing more than a drunken mistake.
From there he figured the best parting gift he could give her was to not confuse her further. To allow her to continue to see him as the villain in her life. Because that way he could be the only one who was left suffering once the divorce went through. He could give her some sort of peace, and perhaps retribution because he had inadvertently caused his own pain. It was a beautiful irony. But she didn’t come home that night. It was getting later and later, but the door didn’t open and despite everything the man grew worried. He was unable to sleep and he sent a text or two asking her where she was, but got no response. Getting out of the apartment, he went searching for her, looking everywhere he learned she could be. Finally it was when he reached the blonde witch’s house that he saw Catherine. Getting out of his car, slamming the door behind him, long strides brought him to her. Pulling her elbow to turn her to face him, his expression a mix of anger and worry, he spoke. “Did you lose your phone? You couldn’t tell me you were staying with Kyle?”

Catherine: you killed oliver.
Catherine: from the first day we met you've made it your life mission to destroy me. you ruined my career. i've lost hope for anything and everything in life. i used to be a girl who had dreams and things she wanted to, but now all i have left is nothing. i sit home - your /home/ every fucking day, watching tv, reading books, learning how to cook because i suck like heck, cleaning /your/ house, living with /you/, the person who tore me apart. and why? just because it was fun for him. because i was entertaining, because ruining my life made you feel alive in 200 years.
Catherine: you are a terrible, horrible awful person. and you deserve absolutely every bad thing that's ever happened to you.
Catherine: you aren't just a bad boy hudson, you're a bad guy. and i don't want to be with a person like that.
Catherine: ...regardless ----
[ & she stopped. no mas. P.S. she wrote this after like 2-3 hours. maybe even 4 because she wrote and re-write and re-wrote and now she's drunk like fuck and wow girl i impressed at your writing skills when wasted but ok bye i die sayonara]
Hudson: You think I don't know all that Catherine? I do and that's the reason I'm not even bothering to tell you to stay even if every single fiber of my being is begging me to stop you. To ask you to give whatever this is a shot because I know that what I've done is unforgivable. I'm not asking you to love me. I'm not asking for forgiveness. But you wanted an answer, why I sound so miserable when I say these things? Well it's because I am. So I guess I fucked myself over by ruining your life. That's probably the whole karma shit taking effect.
“Coffee it is then.” Bash said while he went and poured both of them coffee. “Here.”
“Thanks.” He said taking the cup. “How’ve things been with you since I fell off the face of the planet?”
“No—-you’re probably right, it’s nothing and I’m just being silly. How was your day?”
“You forget how well I actually know you and you say that now but in the back of your mind the only thing you’ll be thinking is about what the sound was from outside. So I’ll go confirm that it’s just Noah and then I’ll go ahead and tell you about my day.” With a light amused smile, the man went to check outside the loft, and found that just as he had suspected, the thump had come from their neighbor coming home completely drunk, fumbling to get into his apartment. Helping him out, Hudson went back and locked the door behind him. “See—nothing to worry about.” Playing with Scarlet’s fingers he spoke to his daughter directly. “Right? It’s nothing to worry about, right Scar.”
“Here — hold Scarlet. I’ll go and check it out.”
“It’s fine. I’ll go check it out if it really worries you that much.”
“——— Yeah. So. What do you want to drink? Coffee seems like a good choice.”
“So, yes coffee.’
“I’ll pour you something to drink because you look like you need it.”
“Yeah—well you get to be the uncle that spoils Scarlet. I’m the dad who has to try and get her to sleep.”
❝ That’s so inappropriate. ❞
“Do you really expect anything else?”
“What was that? I heard a loud thud. Is everything alright outside?”
“It’s probably just our neighbor getting in late.”

Catherine: goodbye
[ literally immediately after he is so angry and done right now and if this was para id be able to write all his emotions but I can't T_T ]
Hudson: You want an answer Catherine?! You really do?
Hudson: I fucking love you. Have for months now and the fact that no matter what I do, you always look for a catch, can't trust that I might actually feel something other than hate for you is killing me. Knowing that despite the fact that I'm really trying here, that I may have lost my one chance at even a spec of happiness is driving me insane. YOU are driving me insane. And thinking about the fact that in a month, this, whatever this is will be over is making me miserable. There's your answer.

Catherine: i'm sure you'd tell her if she asked.
Hudson: I don't know who you're talking about.

Catherine: ...
Catherine: i dont get this. i dont get you.
Catherine: why do you sound so damn sad when you say these things?
Catherine: you /loathe/ me and want to destroy me. remember?
Hudson: You don't want to know the answer so let's just leave it.
