MUTUALS!
Considering this new message feature, do feel free to use it if you need to reach me! It might prove useful for all those questions that might arise while we’re engaging a thread, OR you feel the tags aren’t EHRMARGHED enough, or if you wanna chat and tell me about your day, complain about your boss or that annoying roommate/classmate/whatevermate, or drool about sinfully creamy ice-cream you just ate or… whatever. Totally. Come to me. PLS. °˖ ✧◝(○ ヮ ○)◜✧˖ °
I remember someone saying to my mom that it must be so glamorous to have a child acting in movies. They had no idea how hard it was for her.
Going to create new tags for my verses ( which I think isn’t even up yet and still links to my old tumblr ) and threads but ONLY for the ones that I’ve done since I came back last weekend.
Oh, Lord, he’s self-righteous – and that’s when the interest wanes, no matter how lovely a figure he cuts in that coat.
“Grimwood,” she repeats, and Anne blames her years at the Ministry for making her so much less willing to abandon her instinct towards diplomacy, no matter how much someone deserves anything but diplomacy. “Fourth shelf, leatherbound. Thank you for your concern, but I’m quite alright.” Take your concern and shove it up your very pretty back end, she wants to say, but that’s both significantly too rude and significantly too ridiculous, and a few glasses of champagne isn’t enough to get her drunk enough to say that.
( Unbidden comes the thought that she likely should go for something less pricey – but she’s been waiting for this, her pay will go up, and really, one book won’t kill her. Not when she buys ratty paperbacks falling apart at the spine everywhere else she goes. She’s earned this. )
Her nose wrinkles as the smell of alcohol, unnoticeable in the bar but pungent here, makes itself known to her – and it smells like hard liquor and she’s stuck to champagne tonight, so either someone spilled something on her coat or the entire bar has crawled into her pockets. “If you’d rather not get it, could you at least step to the side, so I can reach it myself?”
Without another response, he reaches for the book, but he doesn’t grab it; instead, his fingers trace the outline of its spine as a hum slips his lips. A thought passes in his mind, and before he can stop himself, he speaks:
“My father knew Grimwood. Not the most pleasant company, he’d say. But a brilliant mind nonetheless.”
Over the years, Theodore has managed to SUPPRESS the rage that once plagued him as an young adult when it came to his father. Of course, some habits remain, but most people don’t notice the way a corner of his lips twitches, or how a vein in his neck becomes more pronounced. Not a lot of people noticed him anyway and if they did, well, they were usually drunk. It seems as though one’s “drunk goggles” also opens people’s eyes to him.
Unable to help himself, he grabs both versions of the book. “Why not purchase both of them? One for display, and one for reading. It’s what I do.” With an arched eyebrow, he passes the books to her, not bothering for her to reply. If she insists on purchasing the leatherbound version and it alone, he’d merely shake his head in disappointment.
HOGWARTS HOUSES + AESTHETIC
↳ “Or perhaps in Slytherin, you’ll make your real friends. Those cunning folks use any means to achieve their ends.”
Douglas Booth as Romeo Montague in Romeo and Juliet. (2013)
( @frayednott ) gets a christmas starter bc i’m christmas trash
“Do you want to spend Christmas with us?”
The offer comes without warning – it’s November, for god’s sake – but she’s been thinking about it for what feels like ages now. It’s an odd idea, Christmas spent in the castle, an attempt to bring life and joy and festivity into a mausoleum. Hogwarts is a shell, filled with death and decay, and Astoria is half sick of it ( but then again, anything is better than Azkaban ).
And perhaps this isn’t the conversation she should be having now, curled up half on top of Theo Nott, and perhaps this is the sort of conversation that should wait until they’ve decided what they even are ( and she hates that the B O Y F R I E N D talk is one she has to have, if only because it’s one she doesn’t know how to have ).
“I mean – you really should. It would be nice to have you there. Otherwise I might just show up at yours for Christmas so I can avoid my mother.”
“My father wants me to stay here.”
And just like that, Theo’s hand that was stroking her hair seconds before drops down to the bed. Any thought of his father SICKENS him; his stomach coils together, and his hands clench into fists. Christmas, to him, is an escape. An escape from the deteriorating manor that smells of mold and decaying flesh, depsite the house elves’ persistent cleaning.
But, he realizes what she’s asking him: to spend Christmas with her, with her family. It’s... an odd thought. Theo can’t remember the last time he’s spent Christmas with his father, let alone anywhere but Hogwarts. Draco had asked him once on behalf of his parents, but he had declined the offer knowing the family would tut and shake their hands in PITY for him. Except, it was ASTORIA asking him this time. He doesn’t want to read too much into it; he’s done it before... and it had not gone well.
“You’re free to visit my manor, but I’m staying here as I always do.”
@frayednott gets a starter bc i love them
She’s curled up in a chair by the fireplace when he enters, a book discarded on the floor, fast asleep – but not for long. As his footsteps approach she turns over, a hand running over her face and into her ( rather disheveled ) hair as she tries to reorient herself to the world.
❝ ‘S it morning already? ❞ she asks groggily, blinking the boy into focus.
❝ Sorry ‘bout disappearing on you last night, by the way. ❞
Amycus had called, and she couldn’t very well say NO.
“I’m used to it.”
The comment, laced with resent, rolls off his tongue as he snatches the book off the floor. He ignores the throbbing of his heart as his gaze rests on the mess of hair that he used to smooth over on mornings when everything was still “alright.”
“It’s difficult, isn’t it? Staying up all night? And for what?”
He sits down, then, and runs his index finger down the spine of the book before he opens it to a random page. In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the s i l e n c e of our friends.
How fitting, Theodore mused.
