Jace didnât really deal with death very well, he normally stayed hidden and out of the way so no one would talk to him nor would they expect him to say something. He wasnât good with it. Sure, he felt for Cheryl but he didnât really know what he could say. He didnât know the kid, even though it was sad to lose someone so young. Running his fingers through his golden hair, he heard the knock on the door and tried to remember if anyone was expecting anyone. Then he realized that he was in the house alone, the others were either at work or with their own friends and such, making sure they were okay.Â
Making his way over to the door, he opened it and noticed Clary. For the first time since Halloween, Jace smiled when he saw her. Leave it to Clary to be able to make him feel content, at least he wasnât completely alone. âHey there gorgeous. Come on in.â Jace told her, stepping to the side to let her in the house. âIâm happy to see you.â
Even if she wasnât waiting out here too long, she was thinking about what they should talk about. Anything but the events that happened on Halloween. She just wanted to see him. She just wanted to forget about all of it right now.
At the sound of the door opening, Clary looked up from where she stood and smiled brightly at him. âJace,â her heart raced at the sight of him. âThanks,â she whispered as she stepped inside and watched him carefully. Her cheeks flushed a bright pink as his term of endearment flooded in her mind. She couldnât believe that he thought she was gorgeous. It made her heart flutter. Clary truly felt like the luckiest girl in the world because she had him. Quickly, she moved her little body and pressed into him, her hand reaching up to hold the back of his neck as she kissed him fiercely, even forgetting about the bag of food in her other hand.
