There is no such thing as a boring book, but there is such a thing as trying to read a book that is the wrong fit for you.
There are many persons who have sworn off reading because of past experiences of being forced to read a book that they believe to be a snooze fest. It may have been for school, work, book club or it may have been at a point when the individual was just trying to get into the habit of reading.
It’s important to know how to choose the right books for you based on your own interests and likes. Clearly, not everyone is the historical fiction, autobiography or sappy romance type of person. Here are some ways to help you chose a book that will make you forget that you actually hate reading:
· If there is a specific book you would like to read, I suggest you read the reviews first instead of jumping in head first.
· Chose books based on your personality. If you like humor, try choosing a book that appeals to that side of you. If you like the comedian Kevin Hart for example, you’ll absolutely love his book entitled “I can’t make this up”
· Ask someone who knows you really well and who also happens to enjoy reading to recommend a book they think you would enjoy.
· Visit a book store and browse through all the books that interests you. Read the summary or go online and browse the reviews of those books.
· If you enjoyed reading the book you choose, use it as a guide to find similar titles. There are many places online that will give you recommendations based on the types of books you actually liked reading.
