can we talk about how the only two saint “deaths” in sr1 both take place in the river, and both of them come back. playa practically comes back from the dead and lin literally comes back as a zombie. and—if you’re a tinfoil hat wearer like me—it’s even debatable that lin survived. her “sightings” are canon yet there’s no mention of zombie carlos, plus her body was never identified and there are discrepancies between the state it was found in and how lin last appeared (news report states the body was naked, which i admit matches up with sharp’s line about undressing her—i’m guessing her in-game model was supposed to be naked during the river cutscene, but anyway). water is often symbolic of rebirth, of emerging clean, changed. i often refer to krystal emerging from the river after lin dies as her baptism, as she emerges intrinsically changed forever, but i just realised that it’s very much true of the boat explosion, too, for almost everyone’s boss. can we talk about this
