Ayyy I heard someone's ask box is empty so I've come to help fill it up again! I've been thinking about genderfluid Sandy recently and I was wondering if you had any gender or sexuality headcanons for any of the characters?

Aww, this is a fun one, thanks for asking!! Let's get into it.

When it comes to sexuality headcanons, a significant distinction takes place in my mind: there's things I consider to be canon (they're not, in fact, canon, but I really can't help to read the manga in any way other than that). Then, there are my personal headcanons: those aren't based on any significant event in canon, and are just headcanons I came up with according to my take on characters' personalities or - more frequently - just my guts pfft.

Canon-ish headcanons / things I consider to be canon:

Gilda is lesbian. I don't know. I'm not sorry. There's SO MANY THINGS in canon that just. Prevent me from seeing her any other way. Referring to the most recent fanbook, there is a reason if basically every single (most popular) female character love status has been discussed- except from Gilda herself. And the reason is: she's a big lesbian with a even bigger crush on Emma- crush that dates back from even longer than Norman's. It's always been there, as clear as air. Her being lesbian is so evident for me that, even though I totally support people having fun with their ships, it never fails to baffle me to see her being shipped with male characters- for her to love a boy is just something I can't see in any world lmao.

Yuugo and Lucas are TOTALLY together. That makes them either gay, bi or pan. I personally would go for bi!Yuugo and gay!Lucas.

There's no heterosexual explanation to this. When I was reading the manga for the first time, I straight up thought they were going to kiss. They probably would have if Yuugo hadn't been carrying Emma.

Krone and Cecile both have a big lesbian crush on each other?? Again Krone is probably bi (“I want to marry a prince”) and Cecile is a HUGE lesbian. I mean Cecile's crush is so so evident,,, they're so cute,,,,,, they deserved better,,,,, ;;;;;;;;

I mean, the shojo effects in this panel??? Hello??????

Paula is non-binary. In an early translation of the GP characters sheets, they were addressed with they / them pronouns, and I was like "oh so they're nb? Cool!" Without putting too much thought into it. From then on, I've always thought of them as non-binary, without really questioning if that was just a matter of translation ahah.

Personal headcanons:

Grace Field:

Emma: I REALLY like aroace Emma it just,, fits so much her character to focus on other forms of love rather than romantic one.

Norman: No strong feelings towards his sexuality but I think bi or pan Norman is cool?

Ray: I'm fond of pan Ray. I mean...

He... He's blushing. And, differently from Emma, I can assure you he's not blushing for the giraffe.

This goes beyond the sexuality field but I also have very strong opinions about Ray's gender, because even though I believe he would go for he / him pronouns, I like to think he has a very fluid relationship with his gender, using make up and wearing dresses whenever he feels like it. Ray is too depressed to give a shit about a lot of things, and gender is definitely one of these.

Don: Bi? I mean, I ship him with Ray so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

To be honest, Don is probably the only character I'm cool with headcanoning as being straight- mostly because I really like the trope of straight!Don protecting lesbian!Gilda in modern AUs. Don would be the kind of swell, wholesome guy for you to say "your redeem all of world's heteros"

Anna: both bi!Anna and lesbian!Anna are extremely valid. I tend to lean more towards the lesbian!Anna because I'm,,,,, so tired to see her randomly paired with random male characters lmao.

Nat: I have no idea, I just didn't want to leave him behind because he deserves love lmao. He's probably bi as well. Ooooh him and Anna may do a bi duo!! I like it.

Goldy Pond Resistance:

Now you see... They've been raised by Lucas. Lucas is big gay in my mind. So "every single one of these children is queer in some way" is extremely valid.

Violet: Oooh, hardcore butch lesbian. I love the headcanon of her having a crush on Emma, but let's be honest, who hasn't ever had a crush on Emma.

Sandy: So genderfluid Sandy??? Wholesome, I'm totally in!!!! He'd be the one to wear a pride eyepatch at prides, like this:

I love him so much

Gillian: Oooohh she's my pan daughter!!!!!!

Nigel: Him and Gillian could form a Goldy Pond pan duo 👀👀

Oliver: Ahah he's Lucas son. He's definitely gay. I also find Oliver / Zack to be a very sweet ship!!! Emma and Oliver are the ones that most functionally work together because Oliver is too gay to have a crush on her.

Again beyond the sexuality field, but I'm also really fond of trans!Oliver!!!!

Zack: Mh probably gay as well.

Sonya: Oooohh she's a lesbiannnn

Vincent: Aromantic!

Barbara + Cislo: I really love @puff-poff's headcanon of Barbara and Cislo being lesbian and gay solidarity!!!!! I'm very fond of the platonic relationship that is between these two- they've been together since they were very little, and they've gone through to so much stuff together, they feel a lot like siblings.

Ayshe: I'd go for aroace with her!!!

The way he's holding them here makes me feel conflicted. Like, this scene is terrifying and I can't imagine what's it like to be on a receiving end of it but... just look at it.

- he's holding Zooble in a way so that their parts don't fall out

- he's not squeezing Gangle so that her fragile ribbons don't get tangled

- he's not putting too much pressure on Ragatha so that she doesn't get ripped apart

- he's only holding Pomni and Jax firmly because their bodies are solid and rubbery

And this scene is right after the torture too. You would think he would be more violent, but no. He wanted to hurt them, not break them.

Caine wanted them to listen. And because they never did, he made them feel what he felt when they poked at his biggest fears and insecurities.

I guess what I meant to say is - even when at his worst, there was still something considerate in him. Something resembling the real him and not the angry monster he'd become.
