Rest In Peace, Cilla Black (May 27, 1943 - August 2, 2015)
“She was the total rags-to-riches story. Totally. She was Liverpool’s Cinderella, and she did go to the ball. What a career. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful career. She reached the heights, she epitomised the word star. A lot of people don’t. They call them that. But she was a star.” - Jimmy Tarbuck

this is actually so cool
In 1978 Robert Plant went fucking ape shit on me as I photographed him at my local Encino park playing soccer. I had a tip that he was there and it was all legal for me to take his photo, but he would have none of it. He surrounded me with all of his roadie-bodyguards and demanded my business card. He gave the the usual shit that I would never work in this town ( L.A.) ever again. Yeah, but I was a teenage kid and it was my fucking park so I just stood my ground and got the hell out of there. I already had my photos and you could not beat what I had already captured, a rock god with kicking a soccer ball in a skimpy speedo. I really hope that I can meet Robert for a drink one day and have a laugh about that afternoon.

people didn’t scream anymore. the music was taken seriously. in ‘69 you had proper amplification. suddenly you could hear everbody. nobody had heard DRUMS before. we must have sounded a joke before. but in ‘69 you really had to be on top of it to play. that’s how Hendrix and bands like led zeppelin came about. i call that tour the led zeppelin tour, because it was the first time we had to go on and play for an hour-and-a-half. i blame it on jimmy page. led zeppelin had come to the states, and they would do a twenty-minute drum solo and endless guitar solos. ― charlie watts: the 1969 rebirth and audience changes.
Chris Squire 4th March 1948 - 28th June 2015 ∞
Christopher Russell Edward “Chris” Squire was an English musician, songwriter and singer, best known as the bass guitarist and backing vocalist for the progressive rock band Yes.
It’s with the heaviest of hearts and unbearable sadness that we must inform you of the passing of our dear friend and Yes co-founder, Chris Squire. Chris peacefully passed away last night in Phoenix Arizona, in the arms of his loving wife Scotty. - Yes Official
“Utterly devastated beyond words to have to report the sad news of the passing of my dear friend, bandmate and inspiration Chris Squire.” - Geoff Downes
“Very sad to hear of Chris Squire’s passing. We were friends for over 45 years. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.” - John Wetton
I am desperately heartbroken and distraught at this tragic news. Chris will be missed by so many, but let’s focus our love and strength on those who knew and loved him the most. This is such a huge loss and a sad farewell to one of my biggest heroes. We were so lucky to have him and we should celebrate his immense talent and the incredible life that he lived. Thank you for everything, Chris. We will love and miss you every day.
