Can someone please write this? I had the idea but I know I can't give it justice with my writing style
Sebastian Ives as Frank Langdon.
The childhood of Sebastian Ives is the same, including his medical history.
While he originally had blonde hair, his hair had fallen out following his cancer treatment. It grew back darker, he didn't mind since he believed the darker hair suited him better. Sometimes he still gets thrown off seeing his reflection even though it's been years.
Sebastian and Abby met at Gotham community college, both roughly 25 years old.
Sebastian decided he wanted to pursue a career in the medical field, and Abby decided her career would be focused on social services with a minor in Law.
Abby was in the middle of trying to escape an abusive and toxic relationship with her boyfriend of 3 years.
Knowing this, Sebastian often let her stay at his place more than at her place with her boyfriend who's rarely ever home.
Becoming roommates was the next course of action, Sebastian left with Abby back to her place to quickly pack up as much of her stuff as they could and move it to his apartment.
Her boyfriend at the time wasn't there which is why they didn't panic through packing. It was as he was carrying a box down to the car that Sebastian met her boyfriend, Jackson.
Her boyfriend who assumed Sebastian was Abby's new so-called fling and tried beating the shit out of him.
Yes he got a bit injured, but Sebastian has been in and out of Gotham for years. It's not his first time getting in a fight, and he has one of his best friends, Tim, to thank for teaching him self-defense. Which is the only reason why Sebastian won the fight against Jackson, and left him out cold in the hallway while rushing back to Abby.
They couldn't risk staying there any longer so they had to leave with what they managed to grab.
They didn't feel comfortable about letting Jackson roam free, but they both knew that the police in Gotham could easily be bribed. It was rare for them to get a good cop on a call.
It's a month afterwards that Abby realized she missed her period. Shortly after, learns that she's pregnant.
Sebastian didn't know about Jackson having connections to some of the small time gangs throughout Gotham until after a few incidents.
It wasn't hard to figure out once he knew to look.
The thing is, Sebastian Ives was always a bit of an “all or nothing” regarding his friends. Especially best friends. Even a friend who he technically just met. It's why he went as far as to gather criminal evidence against Jackson, taking a page out of his friend Tim's book and buying a camera before trapezing around Gotham wherever Jackson went. (Yes he knew about Tim's love for photography, even his little stalking stint from childhood. Concerning but understandable considering everything else he knows about Tim's personal life.)
Somehow building up an alliance with Gotham's night time vigilantes was not planned but not unwelcomed. Red Robin had been especially eager to help.
In the end they managed to get Jackson and roughly twenty other gang members arrested.
It wasn't until an apparent friend of Jackson's broke into the apartment and nearly killed Abby (he tried forcing himself on her too but Abby was past the point of caring about morals regarding Jackson and anything associated with him. She was injured by the end of it but not nearly as bad as the guy that broke in. Sebastian was both terrified and proud of her. Despite the bruising, both her and the baby were okay, just overly stressed.)
The thing is, Abby and the baby could have been killed. Sebastian wanted nothing more than to keep them safe.
When he first thought of getting them out of Gotham, he didn't mention it to her. No, the first person he told was Tim and Bernard.
Who, thinking back on it, might be just a bit unhinged. It's okay though, Sebastian had no room to talk.
They're the ones who helped him fleshed out the plan, making sure they covered all their bases.
He changed his name to Frank, it took a little while because he had to wait for a judge to get the court’s approval. Something about making sure his name change would not infringe on public policy. Simply saying that he preferred Frank over Sebastian, a lie but it's not like the court needed to know that, seemed to be enough of a reason for them to approve it.
Tim has a family friend that took care of any paperwork that involved keeping his name change secret, helping transfer both Abby and himself to a college out of the state.
He wanted to see about removing any parental rights Jackson may have been able to fight for, and putting Sebastian, now Frank, as Tanner's guardian alongside Abby. However, the baby now named Tanner as Abby declared abruptly one night when they were on the couch binging musicals. However, they decided that when Tanner was born they would simply… put his name on the birth certificate.
Entering a strictly platonic husband and wife relationship with Abby was a last-minute change, nothing Frank would ever bring himself to regret.
They had a courthouse wedding with Tim and Bernard as their witnesses. Their wedding rings were a gift from Tim. Who refused to let Frank even mention paying him back.
It took them a while to figure out where to go, in the end they decided on Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
What they essentially did was their own version of a witness protection program without going through the process of government approval.
Getting a house in their name was unplanned, something gifted to them from Tim’s dad but not his dad. To be fair, Frank still wasn't sure what Tim's relationship was with Bruce Wayne and his other kids. However, Tim admitted to seeing them all as his family so that was good enough for him. Still, having Bruce Wayne buy a house, fully furnished, in Pennsylvania for them was over the top. They met with Bruce but the man refused to take anything back or listen to them trying to offer repayment. He said something along the lines of wanting to look out for Frank as he was Tim's best friend who he's heard a lot about, and helping make sure Abby was safe with Tanner once he was born.
They moved out of Gotham on the cusp of turning 26, and Abby was due to have Tanner in less than a week.
Abby's parents were long gone, out of the picture the moment she started dating Jackson. Frank had to break the news to his parents about marrying Abby and moving out of Gotham without telling the whole story. They weren't exactly pleased and it did cause quite the argument between him and them but they cared a lot for Tanner, and didn't hate Abby. Even though they think they were doing all this because Frank had gotten Abby pregnant.
It was hard work creating what was essentially a new life for the both of them while caring for a child.
Four and a half years later, they both graduated early as the top of their classes thanks to doubling up on credits and terrifying their college guidance counselors.
Two months later, they adopt an abandoned baby girl named Penelope, nicknamed Penny.
Frank takes four months off to help with Penny before beginning his first year of residency.
Frank does not hurt his back helping his parents move, nor is he an addict.
He's just from the hell hole, Gotham, pretending he's always been Frank Langdon. He never mentions or tells anyone about where he lived before Pennsylvania or about his name change. It's conveniently absent from any paperwork, and if anyone asks then Abby and him mention growing up together, becoming high school sweethearts, then marrying early.
The timeline of The Pitt follows the same as the show, only Frank has a health scare where they think his cancer came back and then learns about his father passing away. He takes time off to return to Gotham and check in on his mother. Abby stays in Pennsylvania.
While in Gotham, Frank is caught up in a villain attack by Scarecrow. He's injured badly enough that he needs months off from work for recovery. He returns to Pennsylvania with instructions for physical therapy and pain medication. He's always had a high pain tolerance, which is why he manages to pass for being completely fine despite needing to take pain medication every now and then.
Santos mistakes his pain medication for pilfered drugs from the hospital, and tells Robby. (No drugs are actually missing from the hospital, it was just a mistake with filing in the system.)
This probably doesn't make sense since I kind of just tried to write everything before I would forget it...
