Anon: did you guys go to the festival together?
N: Well… funny story, I thought I was going with Susie, her big gesture to my mom was really sweet and I was fully prepared to be swept away tomorrow.
On the day of our date though, she brought Kris along, which was all kinds of weird, I mean, Kris being a willing 3rd wheel felt all kinds of suspicious, like another prank… but some little voice in me thought that, maybe it wasn’t.
At first I felt stressed out, but once they tried to guilt me into giving them my food again, I felt a wash of relief over me. It really did feel like last time.
K: After a while Susie left us both saying that us wimps weren’t cut out for the “sick as hell” rides she was gonna scope out, but before she left she gave me a nudge as if I was the flirting student that became the master.
I felt guilty when Noelle said bye to her, she had a look that felt sad to see her go. After that moment we just stared walking around, I felt completely useless, at least before I was like a buffer when the two of them were out of conversation ideas.
Now I wished Susie hadn’t gone at all cuz at that point we circled around the whole town and I still haven’t made eye contact with her. When I glanced at Noelle again she didn’t have a sad look though, it almost seemed like my being there was more than enough for her. I couldn’t say no when she offered to sit near the open water. I still can’t fully describe how I felt when looking at her face as the sun turned her face a warm orange.
