WACK previous asks, coming in here to say I love all your art and ideas and I still reread that post about Spamton/Kris/MMM parallels like my morning paper. I think about it all the time. I sincerely love your art and any crumbs you give out; do you have any more ideas between the three parallels? Just the vision of Spamton seeing the real sky and not a painted one really brings me to tears idk, he should join them and see the sky too.
thank you so much!!! sorry it took me ages to get to this ask i was trying to Think. i don't have that many other meaningful ideas about the 3 in particular, but something i didn't go too in depth in my post is that Spamton and Pink seem to mirror the way Kris feels about the player taking control of their soul as well. for Spamton, though a puppet needs his strings to move, they are inanimate, unthinking objects that exist only to torture him and take away his autonomy (akin to how Kris feels about the player in the WR). for Pink, darkner Pink's ghost self is not only something she needs to be able to get through the date, but also someone who she gets to know and welcomes into her body willingly.
(with that said, i don't think Pink's situation mirrors how Kris feels or will ever feel about the player in the normal route. it feels to me as though their final feelings on the player may end up being a mix of the two, rather than just completely mirroring Pink.)
another note about their shops both having a sun in them, is that though Spamton's sun is just a fake painting, it's colorful, while Pink's sun looks realistic, but it's desaturated. It's also not even a real sun still, despite looking real it's still only Asgore's ceiling lights. it's only so much realer than Spamton's sun. but it doesn't matter to her, because she's living in the moment :-)
in the same way, even though Pink is Kris' ideal future, a lot of her current happiness comes from exclusively the dark world's wish fulfillment. Her new family ceases to exist shortly after she bonds with them, and she can't control her body outside of a dark world, just like we can't control Kris while not playing the game. Pink's final dialogue in her shop after fighting is "Treasure this world, won't you?" which to me came off as a commentary on the entire game. How it'll eventually end, we won't be part of Kris anymore, and the fantasy will be over, but we'll still be treasuring the joy we got from playing it!
another thing.. this isn't about Kris, but i think Spamton and Pink are also very relevant to Ralsei in this chapter. i haven't thought about it hard enough to really have a great analysis on it, but others have pointed out how it's interesting that Ralsei actively dehumanizes Spamton in ch2 by referring to him as an "it", while in ch5 they advocate for darkner Pink's autonomy, coincidentally in the same chapter where they have realizations about their gender (and general) identity.
there's also the new dialogue from the shop that seems to somewhat imply Spamton may have been hunted by the friend cats at some point, and that could definitely raise more parallels between them and their association to cats (and how Kris, unlike them, is associated to dogs) but it's currently a bit too vague for me to make anything out of it tbh
BTW fully agreed Spamton not being able to see the sun is sooo sad.. if Spamton doesn't get a happy ending i will die badly. toby fox please listen
