communicating with women outside of work wasn’t his forte. communicating with a woman his father had arrested repeatedly definitely wasn’t a skill he had. ‘ you’re one of those too pretty for jail types, ’ pax blurted, looking away immediately & mentally scolding himself for how foolish he sounded. he froze at the feeling of her fingers running through his hair, all the while stumbling over his words. ‘ i think you’ve got the wrong guy — i mean, you’re talking to the right guy but not for that. ’ he was thankful for the poor lighting, the crimson color that covered his cheeks overwhelming.
a smile rises across her cheeks at his compliment, but it spreads when she notices how bashful he quickly becomes after mentioning it. guys who would shamelessly come on to her near to the point of discomfort she was accustomed to, but she wasn’t use to boys who would turn away when they said something as simple as too pretty. fearful she was becoming to make him uncomfortable she takes a minuscule step back & places her hands over her chest while a fake pout replaces her once bright smile. ‘ don’t tell me you’re one of those woo em’ then screw em’ types. ’
