It’s wild to me that people really see Tracy Flick as a villain and a bad person, but then, people also see 12-year-old Delores Haze as a seductress, so there is no limit to terrible reading/viewing comprehension!
Tracy is a very sympathetic character to me. She is unpopular, her mother is controlling, she was abused by her teacher and it was all covered up by the school.
It’s implied that she has to win the election in order to get scholarship money, which is why she is so driven to succeed. The election, and a college scholarship, is her only chance to rise above her class station.
Meanwhile, McAllister is a douchebag, who knew his best friend was abusing one of his students and didn’t report him. He went on to have an affair with that man’s wife, who was also his wife’s best friend. And he tried to destroy Tracy because he didn’t want to work with her, because he was attracted to her? Fuck that guy. He got what he deserved.
The fact that people read Tracy as a villain is so laughable to me but also so telling of how people view ambitious women and abuse victims. The worst thing Tracy did was rip down some posters and let someone else willingly take the blame for it. Tracy is a CHILD with nothing else in her life but a HIGH SCHOOL ELECTION and McAllister is an ADULT who can’t handle her success, he is so jealous of a CHILD that he attempts to destroy her.
If I had a normal family and a good upbringing, then I would have been a well-adjusted person.

I love this country, even though I almost stepped on a red-bellied black snake the other day. A Scottish lady, living here since the 70′s, said it probably wouldn’t have killed me. “Although, you probably would’ve wished you were dead.”
Imagine that line, in a thick Scottish accent…

Salt ponds resemble watercolor paintings in these stunning photos by David Burdeny for his Salt Series. The images of salt pans and dry lake beds were captured in Western Australia, Utah’s Great Salt Lake and the Mojave Desert and are meant to investigate “the hybridized result of human-made structures and organic forces.”

“When you come into the theater, you have to be willing to say, “We’re all here to undergo a communion, to find out what the hell is going on in this world.” If you’re not willing to say that, what you get is entertainment instead of art, and poor entertainment at that.”

you don’t need to share your business with the world 24/7. no one needs to know about every fling you have, every mental breakdown you have, or even what you had for lunch. its good to be open, but respecting your own privacy is so important. before you share something publicly, consider, “do i really want everyone to know about this? does anyone need to know about this? is this even their business?”. setting healthy boundaries for yourself and others is so important for self care.

Laura stood back from the rail and looked about at the blinding, myriad-faceted glitter of the water, at the tall towers of the city, at the world-famous bridge with its battalions of cars, buses and trains, at the great radiant exclamatory morning sky that started in eternity and came down to her very fingertips. 'Heavens!' she said again, exhibiting these wonders and the awe-inspiring colours of the trembling garden. We're lucky. We're really very lucky.'
