HE CAUGHT HER OFF GUARD with his comments, as usual. Veronica was sure: they were right back where they’d started. Well, she was. ‘Chaos is what killed the dinosaurs, darling’ JD was always a mystery to her, which was what drew her to him in the first place. “Believe it or not, Heather wasn’t the one who thought it up. It was for the lunchtime poll, for the yearbook. Heather ━ Duke, that is, practically begged us.” When the machine finished rattling, she twirled her straw, focusing on JD and their intense eye-contact. “They do say forensic pathology students throw sick parties, so I’m gonna need a lot more convincing than that.” The only people who said that were the forensic pathology students themselves, but she was just interested to see what JD would do. “That they do. I mean, you’re here.”
He couldn’t help but think about when they first talked and he was half expecting to hear a shrill shriek about where the fuck her corn nuts were any second. Good thing that wasn’t going to happen this time. "You could have made the lunch time poll a little more interesting with the amount of spoiled rich bitches at that school, Veronica.” He clicked his tongue in mock disappointment. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard that before, you know. But have you really been to that many parties to be able to tell?” JD let out a little laugh and placed a hand over his heart. “Indeed I am. A miracle in the flesh. And if I didn’t know any better, I’d say you’re not as excited to see me as you should be!”
