The 18mm 1.4
My latest video is about the Fujifilm XF18mmF1.4 R LM WR and did I mention it was sharp? It's sharp. Sharp.

The 18mm 1.4
My latest video is about the Fujifilm XF18mmF1.4 R LM WR and did I mention it was sharp? It's sharp. Sharp.
I started my YouTube channel in October of 2022 and I have some thoughts on what Iāve learned in the last 6 months. I donāt have a large channel but itās growing. And thereās so much more to learn.
#disabletumblrlive
If the @staff would maybe just watch the the tiles that show up on people's dashboard, maybe they would allow us to permanently disable it rather than snooze it for 7 days at a time. I don't want to see the next mass shooter posing with his AR-15 on a Tumblr live tile.
It's vile. I'll never watch any of them. Ever. Let me turn them off.
Photography along the Olympic Peninsula
In my latest #YouTube video, I share the images I took while traveling in Washington. This video was harder to make because I am showcasing my work and itās much more personal than even my talking head videos.
I hope you enjoy it.
The XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR Lens
I choke on saying all of that.
Finding Your Photographic Style
Took me way too long but my next #YouTube video is up. This one took me down a different path than I intended, which was really fun. It was even called #cinematic #photography right up to the end when I changed it to Finding Your Photographic Style.
My guess is it wonāt fare as well because I donāt talk about gear at all. This one is for love of the game.
The XF27mmF2.8 R WR
The Fujinon XF27mmF2.8 R WR is a pancake lens that's perfect for travel and blending in for street photography. Not exactly the right lens for a company event but it was all I had.
The Fujifilm X-T5
Why I upgraded. Or why I chose to upgrade. Or why I could justify this big expense to myself. Or why I told myself whatever lies I needed to so I could just go trade in my X-T4 and get my hands on this thing.
The Most Popular Grocery Store In Each State (in 2022, based on foot traffic)
by @statspanda1
this is blatant lying where is publix i have never even seen a fucking safeway i want to speak to the manager
For real. I know Kroger exists in Georgia because I drive past them on my way to Publix, but Iāve never seen a Safeway this far east.
Albertsons in WA/OR? Home of Fred Fucking Meyer? Not to mention Winco? Even the HEB in Texas has me side-eyeing it as Kroger has a very strong presence, at least in So. Texas/Houston. Aside from the fact that Albertsons has the highest prices of all the chain grocers in PDX.
I suspect this image is a troll. Or perhaps the caption is literal and this survey only included foot traffic - people who drove cars to the store were disregarded (this could explain the Trader Joes thing, because their parking lots always SUCK)
I donāt recall ever seeing a HyVee in Minnesota (itās Cub Foods. Duh.), and uh, Massachusetts is Market Basket country, ffs. Also last time I read about this Fryās only had like two stores left so the Arizona thing seems unlikely too.
This is all bogus data, but for what purpose I donāt know.
There is literally not a single Safeway location here in the state of Florida. Not one. Thatās a fact.
Also this is straight-up Wegmans erasure and I will have none of it.
Not even sort of true. I know more people who shop at Trader Joeās than Sprouts in Colorado. King Soopers is our Kroger-purchased grocery store.
X100V Made Me Better
I made this as a companion to my blog post from September. It has had a profound affect on me, but not because it's an X100V. It was the right camera for me when I needed it.
Get Out There
I did not want to go outside this morning. Itās cold and thereās snow everywhere. Not just snow, but that weeks-long snow thatās been scraped and salted, and is brown from the filth of the streets. I hate that snow.
I dragged myself out anyway. I took my Fujifilm X100V and a travel tripod and phone mount in case I wanted to give vlogging a try. First, that word is just the worst, vlogging. And second, I can not just walk around the streets talking to my video camera because I respect other people. Iāll find another way to talk to the camera.
And it was worth it. Even if I didnāt have such fantastic light and the photos were no good, itās still worth going out because I canāt learn and improve if I donāt go out.
Iām happy with these. And I get to say to myself that I did this, I have these photos now. Because I went out.
I keep coming back to this but we never asked *how* Big Brother had all the methods of surveillance in 1984, we just accepted the premise.
But the prequel will be about an unchecked tech industry falling all over themselves to collect more and more data because thatās the pot at the end of the rainbow.

Why Glass?
Look at my home page on Flickr.
Now look at my home page on Glass.
This is the best way to show you the difference. But it's equally dramatic seeing the home feed of Instagram vs Glass on a mobile device. If you love photography, the question is "why not?"
Best of 2022
I made a 1 minute 40 second video of my favorite #photography in 2022.
there is something so darkly comical about tumblr potentially outliving twitter
tumblr, which is held together with duct tape and madness, run by three raccoons in blood stained Yahoo! hats and a handful of crabs, its only discernible source of income the sale of shoelaces from an inside joke so inside no one knows the original source anymore and fake blue checkmarks... that website still lives on
truly the cockroach of social media and I love it for that

One of my favorite Christmas Movies ! ! ! ! !
Now itās Christmas
Whatās fun about making these videos is that Iām in control of what I want to say, how I want to say it, and use whatever methods and design choices I like.
