ok so this might seem random and you don't need to respond to this especially bc it's hetalia... i know... but i saw a post the other day about how your art style is a conglomeration of all the artists you loved mashed into one... and it got me thinking because I was OBSESSED with your hetalia art when I was like,,, 12. I wanted to draw just like you, so i'd sit there and stare at your art and try and copy it on paper with these shitty colored pencils i had. I wasn't even allowed to have social media at that point, so I'd just check your blog on my private browser everyday to see if you posted anything. And then i had the audacity to redraw something and send it in anon, and you were so nice to me. I remember it literally making my whole week and i made me wanna draw more. So i did. and then a few years later, i did it again to show you how i improved. And again you were so encouraging and it made me super happy. At this point, I'm way older. I've graduated college, and am working to get into the animation industry. I still draw a bunch of fanart, and have kids looking up to me and my art the way I did yours. So I was feeling a little sentimental when I saw that post and decided to redraw it really quick to the best of my memory. I've lost both of those original drawings at this point, but i don't know. Can you see your art style in mine? LOL. Anywho... hope you're doing well. Thanks.
This is an incredible thing to read, really
Its always so crazy to me that someone would study my drawings! But I did the exact same thing as you but with comic books I used to redraw comic panels over and over. That is the fastest way to grow.
I would have been about 17 years old during the hetalia days (DARK TIMES...), and receiving art was always so fun. If I told you I liked it back then it was surely true, it always made me excited to see people getting into art or trying things out.
I am so happy to hear you have continued to make art this whole time and I hope you keep doing it, I hope you get to work with it! You are certainly skilled enough, I should be studying YOUR art at this point!
Also I may still have those old drawings of yours saved in my archive somewhere. I have a huge folder thats just all the art I was sent throughout the years or at least back then when people sent me a lot of stuff. At that time it helped me with my teenage depression lol, knowing that people cared enough to feel inspired.
Thanks so much for telling me this it has brightened my day and watered my crops, And maybe I DO see a hint of my style in there!
