How do you get asked out?

I stop by events most nights, I work with women who are constantly pushing us to go to alumnae events, I had classes next to the business school and took advantage of studying in grad groups, I go to networking events, I basically work with only men in their late twenties for a month in the summer, and I take advantage of most of the opportunities I’m given. I know a lot of people and I’m not afraid to introduce myself to more, I have social skills so I don’t worry about what to say or what to talk about, I fit into their idea of what a woman should be and look like, I’m a member of their social groups so they don’t look at me strangely when I pull up to an event 25 minutes late, and I’m happy to get to know people. I don’t bother with apps unless I’m getting something out of them and I don’t have the time these days, I have opportunities in front of me that I’d be dumb not to take advantage of so I accept invites most times they’re extended and try to get myself out frequently.

The harsh reality is that other people don't care about you and only you are responsible for your well-being. Stop taking what others say personally and stop placing so much value on the opinions of nobodies. So what if they don't like you? Do they even like themselves? Do YOU like them?.

When it comes to showing a video to my daughter, this will be the first and foremost thing I show her. She will come into the world being that beauty is about who she is, what she does and how she does. This was made in 1969 but everything this mini documentary talks about in regards to becoming beautiful stands true now. My favourite thing I have carried from this video is ' interesting people have interests'. Also this is the video that taught me to lose five pounds in five seconds.

Yes I grew up in a muslim household but always made it very clear with my lifestyle, opinions and words that I don’t practice any religion. That’s why I don’t have that much hardcore religious friends. I prefer the religious feminists ones.

Why the people that enjoy the most their life in the west to the fullest have the most conservatives views on religion ?

Now I remember why I hated so much being friends with girls of my community that grew up exclusively with muslims. At least my arabs friends are honest about it. They don’t agree with that shit.

More often than not the things that saved you in one season of your life you need to be saved from in your next season- recognize when something doesn't serve you anymore and learn to let go.

Ladies, remember personalities do not exist and every human being walking this planet, unless you're AI , has some level of multiple personality disorder. You know how you're different around your mom and your boss and your priest and your friends and your man- multiple personalities, simply put- adaptations, because that's what a personality is, an adaptation.

Ladies your personality is the dominant set of adaptations you used to survive the environment you grew up in, not some set on stone this is who I am I'm doing me weirdo speeches. "I've always been quiet" you were punished for going outside & scared or bullied out of socialization so coped by adapting that. If you were born in another house with different parents you'd be different, identifying with coping mechanisms is another level of Stockholm syndrome, human beings don't have a fixed identity we are adaptation machines by nature.

Its important over your life to learn to never 'identify' with anything simply because a human being can not have a central definition- but more than that I'd like you to refrain from identifying with a personality / set of behaviors. In your adult life you will be required to constantly rebrand and readapt to environments that you end up in and sticking to what kept you safe when you're no longer in your childhood home is self sabotage. We are adaptation machines and only the flexible enough survive.

Its important that you learn attunement and adjustment to survive, and a lot of times the set of adaptations that saved you in your childhood will be the ones to imprison you in your adulthood. Learn to let go and adapt, and never- I mean never- take on an 'identity' that's not innate eg race sexuality family etc, you're boxing yourself for no reason.

Only the flexible survive.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but please don’t break promises you make to yourself just because it’s you the promise is being made to. You told yourself you’d go on a walk tomorrow morning? Do it. You said you’d get more consistent with your skincare routine? Make it happen. You promised yourself you would work on establishing boundaries regardless of who’s on the other side of them? Follow through with that. Don’t wake up the next day and go “well I don’t HAVE to do this” “it wouldn’t hurt to postpone this” “this isn’t a big deal” because it literally is. Every promise broken is another nail in the coffin of your self-actualization. It’s another major roadblock to developing healthy self-love and self-respect. Weigh promises you’ve made to yourself the same way you would weigh promises you’ve made to others.

I didn’t respect myself enough to go through w things I want, so how can I expect other people to respect me enough to consider the way they treat me w care? And then it’s also so much easier to slip into the mentality of “they’re treating me horribly NOW but I’m sure they’ll do better in the future” “they’re not there yet but they will be” because that’s what you tell yourself when you don’t follow through w things. Other people’s subpar behavior towards you is acceptable because YOUR subpar behavior towards yourself is acceptable. I think this is what people mean when they say you have to love yourself in order to accept healthy love from other people.
