It’s @ericclapton ‘s birthday today. The first official idol of “guitar hero” culture, the king of the blues rock lick and the one who made us all want to play lead. This riff is one of those ubiquitous ones that stands the test of time and is one of the first riffs we learn for good reason. Let’s also not forget how great Cream was as a band. If you're a musician or music lover who like myself has become cynical at the grim state of music in general as of late, let me say that seeing @tompettyofficial has shone a light of hope. Even as the business model is completely fucked, we musicians are forced to become gimmicks just to make ends meet and even live show attendance seems to be dwindling - nothing is ever going to stop great songs like "Johnny B. Goode", "A Day in the Life" or "American Girl" from touching the hearts of millions. I saw thousands of people singing along and some crying to the latter on Saturday, and I realized THAT can never be taken away. Maybe the business as we know it needs to burn so it can be reborn again, but good music in itself is a void we all need filled. The world is always going to need people to make great music, and therefore, the world is going to find a way to make sure those people can continue to do so. P.S. nice pic Chaddo.
