endometrium lorem ipsum
mold myself like polymer
let it airdry then carve
away the bits that don’t fit
i keep scratching at my skin
hoping to get rid of all of it
paint finished and polished
too soon for purpose
and then stored behind some cabinet doors
away but still on display for the public
can you help? i’m a little dusty
i write but the words don’t trust me
trying to reinvent everything
but the trends don’t fit me
not delicate like fine china but i’m getting close
my skin gets thinner every cycle that goes
and when it all gets heavier
i just shed a few pounds before you know

—Leigh Hunt, Songs and Chorus of the Flowers
sinned newts
avoid it for the fear of being perceived
it’s an alright life, just a bit lonely
always told one thing, and then another
for as long as i could breathe
learned real quick that nothing comes for free
lost myself searching for consistency
because it’s an alien concept
am i awful for ruminating on the years that i peaked?
leaving out all the context
it’s okay, my pain is trendy
my youth wasted online being an experimentee
because my femininity is only for the public
constantly told that i need these things
thick makeup, a flat stomach
for a man to want to fuck me
unfortunately, i tell the future
i hate myself more every year
and yet like clockwork, i look at an old picture
wondering why i put that girl through hell
i know the damage i do to myself
how it’s all a part of this system
to guarantee some corporation’s wealth
and keep myself under his thumb

I will always be the virgin-prostitute, the perverse angel, the two-faced sinister and saintly woman.

Up for air from the swimming pool // You'd kneel down to the dry land // Kiss the earth that birthed you // Gave you tools just to stay alive // And make it out when the sun is ruined
