Hello! Long time no see.

Somehow well over a year has gone by since I last updated this showdown. I honestly have no real reason for this. However, even though no one probably cares anymore, I have decided to finish it anyway! I will post the semifinal polls tomorrow, and they will be:

Raleigh Becket and Mako Mori (Pacific Rim): Listen. They are drift compatible. He hasn't been in a Jaeger since the death of his brother but he meets this woman, she kicks his ass, they experience each other traumas. Idris Elba disapproves of the entire thing. Only straight couple in existence. Any other movie they would have kissed at the end on that raft.

Holga Kilgore and Edgin Darvis (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves): They met at the lowest points of both their lives. Holga has been left by the man she was exiled for marrying. Edgin has been left a single father after his wife is brutally murdered as revenge on him. But they come together to raise Edgin's daughter and end up helping each other heal. They both have total faith in each other and are ride or die for each other. They're each other's closest confidant and best friend, but are genuinely disgusted at people thinking they're a couple because it's completely platonic. They tease each other like siblings but won't hesitate to comfort each other.

Simon Snow and Penelope Bunce (Carry On series): These two are absolute ride or dies for each other. As the “worst chosen one whose ever been chosen,” Simon is basically a huge disaster with an abundance of power, and he would be absolutely nowhere without Penny helping him through all his battles and kidnappings. They follow each other into trouble at all times. There is never even a hint of anything other than platonic between the two, even when Simon’s girlfriend suspects there are feelings there. When they’re apart, they write letters to each other as pen pals. Hooty is a mysterious but powerful being that is never explained within canon, and Lilth is just some nerd. However, she’s one of the only people who will take Hooty seriously. When the apocalypse comes, Hooty sacrifices himself to protect Lilith without a second thought. Their reunion is really sweet. They’re great!

That's not even an exaggeration- their character designs were literally made with the intention of their silhouettes fitting together perfectly whenever they hug, which is often. With the kind hearted and optimistic Wander always offering a helping hand, it's Sylvia who's the one looking out for HIM when he's too busy looking out for those around him. In turn, Wander is nothing short of absolutely supportive of Sylvia and her ambitions, willing to try and see things from her perspective while staying true to his own beliefs. They are truly a friendship that will last through the ages, bringing out the best in them both.
