i think the question of "could/should pinestar have taken tigerkit with him" is interesting because the situation it proposes is a lot more complex than people realize. here are the things that would have to happen in order for that to be arranged

-pinestar would have to ask leopardfoot's permission

-this would likely entail telling her about the prophecy, to justify why tigerkit specifically has to come

-pinestar would have to look his wife in the eyes and tell her that their baby boy is destined to be evil and starclan wants pinestar to kill him

-in any case, leopardfoot would have to not only accept this information - that her baby is unsalvageably evil and this might be the only way to save him - at face value and be willing to part with her son knowing she will likely never see him again, but also be okay with pinestar subjecting his son to the innate shame of being a kittypet against his will

-assuming leopardfoot agrees to go along with it, obviously pinestar can never, ever tell tigerkit what's going on or why this had to happen

-tigerkit will be abruptly ripped away from the only world he's ever known for reasons he doesn't understand, will never understand

-if this scenario is to have a happy ending, that would require tigerkit himself to be happy and complacent with the will his father has imposed on him without his consent, that he does not ever become frustrated or resentful when his father refuses to answer his questions, does not struggle or hiss or use his teeth and claws when the twolegs keep touching him and trying to pick him up even though he keeps screaming at them them not to do that and he doesn't like that but they don't care because just like his father they don't listen, no one ever listens to him and no one ever explains why they do the things they do

-that tigerkit does not develop an intense desire for control in this situation where he has none

-that tigerkit does not think about the life he was taken away from, ever

The main conceit of the finale seems to be there's no do overs. There's no going back. Betty can't take back her decisions. And Simon can't recover what he lost to the Crown.

Ultimately, Fionna and Cake was a story of accepting your life, no matter how much it hurts to do so.

A bad situation sometimes just needs to be left behind, or else you go crazy constantly trying to fix it. Somethings can't be fixed, but that doesn't have to be the ending.
