What do yâall think of changing the name of the podcast?
Instead of âfrom here to the starsâ I was thinking something simpler, like Startlight Stories, or Starlight Radio, idk, fhtts is just kind of a mouthful. :/

How are things going?
i got permission from the author of a âfirst contactâ story to use it in the first episode!
You said the humans are space orcs podcast is on YouTube. but.... you never told us what YOUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL IS CALLED!!!! How am I supposed to find it :(!!!!
This ask has been sitting in my inbox for at least months, and all this time I have failed to give you an adequate response, out of guilt, apathy, I donât know, but Iâm sorry for that.
The Humans are Space Orcs podcast, of which the working title was âFrom here to the starsâ, never ended up happening, and there are two main causes for that.
For one, for a long time now I had to focus on my own health, both mental and physical. My chronic illnesses have slowly worn me down over the course of highschool, I sunk into a perpetual state of exhaustion and pain, and only recently have I been given medication to help remediate any symptoms at all.
For two, the podcast, at its very root inspiration, was intended to be community driven. I could kick off the base plot, I could run things and narrate and organize, but it needed stories, the very thing that made me fall in love with this community, itâs vast collection of ideas, all of which are so beautifully unique. And by god it almost worked. Even now if you look at the tumblr blog created to house it, @fromhere-tothestars , you will see a handful of posts with thousands of notes, all people excited at the prospect. As of today Iâm still getting notes on them. But to keep the podcast going after the initial episode, I needed help from writers, and despite all the love and anticipation and curiosity, no one ever submitted stories, so nothing ever came of it. My hyperfixation with those beautiful, wonderful, hopeful stories ended, and I moved on to other things.
The podcast died before it was ever fully realized.
It has been years now since I tried and failed to give back to the community that gave me so much joy, but Iâll make a deal with you. Any and all of you reading this.
If the community is still there, and I see the potential that I saw all those years ago, I will try again. I will come back. I will dedicate for the sake of bringing something wonderful into the world, but I canât do it alone. I need the support of a community, and I need people to send in their stories.

Well shit. Three hundred notes.
ALRIGHT, you got me, Iâm coming back. HOWEVER, October is my busiest month of the year, so Iâm not sure I can put out content before November.
Things the podcast includes:
Featured fan-written stories
Each video will have a compilation of humans are weird fan art from the community
Reoccurring characters, such as the narrator, human Steve, the malevolent AI that runs the radio station, and a linear plot that serves as backdrop to the stories.
Back when I first had the idea, I went and asked the creator of stabby the space roomba- and got permission to add him as a character.
Soooo yeah, several of you have already sent in stories or offered to write one, Iâve got my old mic that I bought last time around, and there is a dedicated discord server on the way.
I want to thank everyone for the massive outpour of support, it really means a lot to me, and I hope it carries over.
P.s. would it be tacky to name the character after my own nickname? Originally they were to be named Sam, as a nickname human-Steve would give them, but my nickname (Grem) also sounds like it would fit.
Iâm BACK DUDES.
Where do you want us to submit stories? Even if nothing gets done with it, I'd love to write something for you.
Sorry for the long wait for a reply, I was waiting until October was over to start trying again. For now stories can be sent over DM, or you can send an ask stating you have something for me.
Thank you for the support!
Iâm here because you asked! Please do a podcast I would love to listen to the stories! And I can submit my own too!
Hi! Thank you for the support, as October is coming to an end Iâm going to start being active in the fandom again and working on the podcast
Iâm back lads.
ALRIGHT I promised yâall I would start working on the podcast again after Halloween, itâs going to be a slow start, but Iâm kicking it off with some unfinished concept art of the Narrator. Tell me what you think, you know whether or not they look like someoneâs middle school OC or what.
As for what Iâm figuring out, I need
To make a final decision on the title
To decide on a NAME for our Narrator (if you have a suggestion put it in the comments! I was thinking of Sam. Must be gender neutral)
To either find a more user friendly editing program or hire an editor
To make final decision on what our first episodes volunteer story will be
To pick a day when my speech impediment is not absolutely wrecking me and START RECORDING!
On a side note, as I tend to post controversial content on my main blog, Iâm attempting to divorce it from the podcast as much as possible. Please follow THIS account for updates on my progress, not my main.

So a lot of the humans are weird stories on here are about aliens reactions to normal human things, like drinking coffee and eating spicy stuff. I wanna hear more about what the humans consider weird. Show me a story about a dude who straight up eats a lightbulbs for views and both the aliens and the humans are horrified. Have a half human half alien crew discuss the people addicted to eating things that Should Not be Eaten, like drywall and plastic, and then the aliens have to hide the fact that they always have at least one eye on the human just to be sure theyâre not going to up and consume their lab equipment.
Some of us like to eat metal
A horrifying reminder, have a nice day.
do you ever get like, overwhelmed when you think about global warming and how no one in power is doing anything to stop it and its getting worse and think about how much worse itll be in 10, 20, 30 etc years? i try not to think about it because theres only so much individuals can do to stop global warming but since you work in wildlife and (im assuming?) probably see the effects of it i feel like that would be hard to push out of your mind
Yeah actually, itâs something I talk to my therapist about a lot, and itâs something we acknowledge every day in class, and something weâre studying at work. Every day I go battle with some stage of grief, and I mean that. Itâs always in the back of my mind. I always come back to Aldo Leopoldâs quote from A Sand County Almanac:
Still, I hold onto hope. I donât know what itâs going to come down to, but the majority of people in the world are suffering because of the minority, and I wonât give up on humanity. We donât deserve this fate any more than the trees and the animals. Iâm not giving up!Â
When a UFO is spotted, people infer it to be an âalien ship,â but if they are confident it to be an âalien ship,â it would no longer be an UFO.
I always hated it when people used UFO as a synonym for âspaceshipâ. That defeats the purpose of unidentified.
See also: âI donât believe in UFOsâ
Oh so you donât believe in things in the sky that you donât know what they are?
I just had an idea, what if humans confused the heck out of aliens with colored contacts?
Aliens get to know their new human crew mate, their eyes are brown. Ok, thatâs a normal color for humans, but then the next day their eyes are blue.
The aliens are like:???? Um, werenât their eyes brown??
Then the next day, or even a few hours later, the humans eyes have gone a startling shade of purple.
So the aliens, utterly bewildered, ask the human about this. The human just laughs, and to the aliens horror, they peel off part of their eye, revealing the original brown coloration.
Before the human can explain, they flee in terror, now convinced that not only do these things come from a death world, they can change their eye color at will by ripping off the top layer.
Humans, they decide, are terrifying.
Bold of you to assume aliens canât peel their own eyeballs. Better yet, it doesnât even reveal a second color. It bleeds and regenerates and they act like itâs no big deal so they keep doing it to freak you out
This is and amazing addition to my post, thank you.

I didnât check on this blog for a couple weeks and this post has over 1,200 notes?!? This is literally the most popular post I have ever made!
Where can I listen to the podcast?
Itâs not out yet, but it will be on YouTube.
Now taking submissions for the podcast!
I am looking for a short story from the âhumans are weird/ space orcs/space Australians/space fae tags. Iâll select some of the best submissions and put it up for audience vote, the winner will be narrated in part of the podcast. (Separate from the main story, kinda like the weather section of wtnv)
Please make sure your submission is:
Well written.
Friendly for all ages
Only one part- Iâll probably do the first section of multi-chapter works later, but for now Iâd like to keep it simple
Have all names âpronounceable to the human tongueâ please. And if the names are weird please send a pronunciation guide with your submission.
Preferably yours. If you REALLY like a story youâve seen on here you can suggest it, along with a way to find the authors profile to ask permission.
