To describe this past weekend as anything other than pure magic would be an injustice to the blissfully surreal days we just experienced. All you need to see is this photo to understand what I mean:
Weddings are always fun. There is the gathering of loved ones from across the globe, the merging of friend groups from different life stages, the (alcohol induced) lunches and dinners and after dinner parties leading up to the big day when said groups get to know each other better, the dancing, the getting all gussied up, the thoughtful speeches, the reminiscing, the catching up with old friends, the making of new friends, and on and on and on. These ingredients always equal fun in my book, especially when paired with the best of best friends and the best of best family! So what, you ask, made this weekend particularly magical??!
First: the couple! In this case, a couple who is so perfectly matched, everyone was in high spirits - buzzing to celebrate this duo who embodies the "meant to be" cliche.
Second: the wedding guests. Said couple has a tight knit group of friends and family who managed to take over the village of Northstar making every waking (and sleeping) hour a party, regardless if scheduled or not.

Not so standard gondola ride down:
Third: the attitude! No squawking orders, no drama, no fuss...just three perfect laid-back days where everyone got along and the bride tried not to draw attention to herself and miraculously managed to do so with grace and poise (and a littttle bit of attention)!
Fourth: the weather. If you think the clouds in the above picture look ominous, well this was just the beginning. Let me paint a little back story. Jaime is good at research, planning and execution. She knows what she wants and she figures out how to get it. She wanted to get married outdoors, in Tahoe, in March. So, she meticulously consulted the Farmers Almanac and came to the logical conclusion that it has never snowed on March 29th in Tahoe. Never (at least per my recollection which might be slightly exaggerated). Well, the snow gods must have thought her research was a bit too thorough or maybe they just wanted to test her unflappability, or maybe they just decided, if we let it all loose, this is going to be phenomenal!!! So, we woke up Saturday morning to this:
This was what was happening at the base of the mountain. At 7,000 feet, they were predicting two feet of snow!!! 24 inches!! Bride = unfazed; Groom = unfazed; wedding = continuing on outdoors!
Although there were times when things looked a little dicey, nothing could stop this ceremony from being exactly how Jaime and Scott pictured it. To their credit, and to the credit of the excellent Northstar team who was hosting the first ever winter wedding in the newly renovated Zephyr lodge (they were definitely not thanking the snow gods!), the results were, well, magical.
Not one guest was cold despite the inches of snow piled on our heads and arms and dresses for their warm love was all-encompassing and their laughter contagious.
These two deserve pure magic and this weekend was a testament to their ability to literally weather any storm. Love you both - so happy I could be a part of your special special wedding.
