In Denmark we say cute things likes “tak for i dag” which means “thanks for today.” One usually says this when saying goodbye, it’s a polite way to say thanks to one’s teacher if you’ve been at school, you’ve been staying at your friends or any situation like that in which you might want to thank someone for ‘hosting’ in some way.

We also say “tak for mad” when we’re done eating, which means “thanks for the food.” When we meet someone again, we often say “tak for sidst”, which means “thanks for the last time (we saw each other).” When we’re surprised we say “tak for kaffe” which means “thanks for coffee.” I don’t know why we do that one, though.
