Belated day 2 of horror movie Inktober, this one's from Sleepaway Camp! As a trans person who loves bad campy horror I have a complex relationship to this film rn (to say the least) especially with transphobia running so rampant lately. This movie employs transphobic tropes for shock value that a lot of horror is guilty of (dont get me STARTED i could write a video essay on this shit) and in doing so it perpetuates some scary ideas being parroted by conservatives today. It also has iconic kills, wacky acting choices, and lines that make me giggle like "Eat shit and die, Ricky!" "Eat shit and LIVE, Bill." Is it a good movie? Not really, no! But that's unfortunately why I like it. Kat Blaque's video essay on Sleepaway Camp and Harmony Colangelo's Medium article on it are both great reviews of it from a trans perspective and explain how trans ppl can simultaneously like and hate this film, if you are cis and watch Sleepaway Camp go look at what they both have to say so u can view it with your media comprehension goggles on or I will fucking GET you 🫵

Trying my own version of Inktober this year called "Im just gonna draw stuff from horror movies I watched recently" :) First one is Rosemary's Baby! They never show the titular baby in the film to up the dramatic tension, but this is what I imagine he looks like.

Btw this is sort of a loose sequel to this animation i made a while ago to encourage myself to start and finish animating something in one day even if it wasn't perfect. Hooray for fighting burnout and perfectionism one imperfect piece of art at a time :D
