this seems so irrational. she knew that. the way her father had been shot, the way he was bleeding out. he hadn’t been moving that night so long ago. she had never heard anything about him or any of his aliases ever again. klara had been so sure her nightmare was gone. but now she wasn’t sure of anything. but right now with bobby at least she felt something real, something that she could maybe be sure of. as she clung to him, as her fingers dug into his arms as she tried to control herself there was a slight sense of comfort. “it sounds crazy i know…i know it does but bobby i saw him. i did. i swear i saw him.” she knew he was right though. they needed to get inside just in case. she nodded softly before she began to stand up, letting bobby lead her back inside. in the hotel, she put on a mask of calm. she stared straight ahead, not wanting to give off any inkling of what was going on in her mind until they were alone in the hotel room. she knew she could be herself with bobby and she craved that right now more than ever.
bobby couldn’t make sense of what klara had said. he’d heard of her father, though it had only been in bits and pieces, and he’d never had any reason to assume that klara was wrong. what reason was there not to trust her? not to trust her perception of reality? bobby shook his head slightly, trying to make sense of what she’d said. “it’s not crazy. it’s...” well, what was it? it wasn’t possible for people to come back from the dead, it simply couldn’t happen. so either klara had been wrong or they’d chosen someone that had an uncanny resemblance to her father.
for now, bobby tried not to think about it. he didn’t want to ask her here, in the open, what exactly had happened. this was not a safe space to do so.
once they were safely inside of the hotel room, bobby set her gently on the bed and sat beside her. “klara...” he murmured, opening his arms just in case she wanted to be close. here, within the safety of the little hotel room, they could be. it was only marginally safer, as it was likely that someone was watching or listening, but at least they weren’t so out in the open. “look at me, are you alright?” concern flooded bobby’s features. that, he thought, above all was the most important thing to him now.
