Hi! I'm a person from planet Earth who goes by "frostare." I enjoy videogames, movies and fiction in general. A bit fond of animes too. This sentient bag of sand here is Sacksquatch, it comes from Angel Fall's nearby fields and by eating a Rosetta stone he is able to understand human speech. He has reformed from its old evil ways but still holds a grudge to Celestrians.

Square Enix published the opening CGI movie for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, and announced a demo releaseing on January 7th.

I finished the DQVIIR demo a couple hours ago. I downloaded it feom the Japanese shop, I'll be available worldwide in a few more hours.

It took me 3:49 hours to finish it, but I explored quite a bit, so I think most people can beat it in aprox. 2:30 hours.

I played on the normal difficulty setting, and I felt it was a bit too easy, as each character has a base vocation. Kiefer had Flame Slash before the famous slime fight. Auster had zoom right from the start. A tad too easy, but this was extremely early game on a long game, so it might get better later. We'll see.

Overall, I think its probably the best remake we've had in the DQ series. Even better than the truly incredible DQ2 HD-2D Remake, yes. I thought it was that good, yes. The UI looks great and feels very nice, the artstyle is gorgeous imo, the maps are beautiful and very detailed, the difficulty is fully customizable, it has awesome VA, you can easily see the items/armor/minimedals/tablets you have obtained and where, theres a nice defeated monsters list... So far I like the modified areas. In short, DQVIIR makes DQVII an easy recommendation now.

Much like 2 HD, this elevates a game I already loved even further. It's a great time to be a DQ fan, specially if you already liked the odd ones like 2 and 7.

However, I'm worried some of the most unique-looking monsters might get cut. VII is quite special in that regard, with a ton of monsters that only appear there (and in DQM2, I guess?)... We will see how that goes, but my worries remain.

I'm also worried they might retcon it's barely-existing connections to other mainline titles, but I can accept that if done well.

Anyway, I cannot wait to get back into the forgotten world once more next month.

Exactly ten years ago, I made the first post on this blog.

The blog itself ran for exactly two years - comparatively such a short time in my life, but for the entirety of those years, this blog was my life. As such, it felt like I dedicated so much more of myself to it.

The experience of running this blog had plenty of ups and downs - I eventually stopped it because I felt like I didn’t have much to add to the formula, I was getting cranky and stale. But I can’t understate how much of an impact this decision of running a little blog where Reisen takes people’s questions would impact the rest of my life going forward.

When I think about the person I’ve become - how I went from meek, quiet and powerless to becoming the best version of myself, confident and proud - I can trace back the steps, and they all lead to this humble little tumblr account. To the people I have met as a result of my work here. From people who might not even remember me anymore, to those who stuck with me long after.

In a way, my character development mirrors Reisen’s. A fugitive with heavy self-esteem issues, but who found a place, a community. Found love. And now proudly proclaims - I am not a Moon rabbit, but a rabbit of the Earth. It’s no wonder I would latch on to this character over 10 years ago, when I first decided to check out this “Touhou” thing I’d heard so much about.

So, to everyone who’s read this blog ever since its inception… who’s sent in questions, who shared posts with friends… followed, liked, reblogged… and especially to those who stuck around even after I stopped it: thank you.

My goodness, you updated the blog! I have fond memories of this and came back hoping to see where I could find you now. Super glad that question got answered here, but wasn’t expecting such a kind, sweet message. It is we, or at least I, who should be thanking you, thank you for providing such funny scenarios, beautiful pictures, and just all-around great moments in a time where I could really have used them. Thanks for bringing this formerly alien-to-me series a little closer to home and introducing me to a super nice community. It means the world and the moon to me.
