Wooden houses of Kolomna (and one brick house which I loved)

We rented a lovely 100 year old wooden house (photo 1) within the walls of Kolomna Kremlin. It's one of the two towns in Russia that still have people living within the kremlin (as it was back in the day). Normally, today historical kremlins are museums or administrative areas (as in Moscow).

The whole area around our house was one-storey wooden houses decorated with lacey nalichniki (window trim). It's going to be so beautiful in a week or two when all of the apple trees bloom!
