I love your art. Any tips on drawing good like you? I've been drawing since 2023 and I'm scared to upload my art and get hate for it.
Hey, firstly, thank you!!!
The only drawing tip I can give is to draw every day, even if it's something simple like a circle or a floating head. Just keep practicing (not to the point of burnout, of course)
I think it's mostly psychological tbh, and I can really relate to that. You can spend years and still think that your art is shit, but that's the point of drawing - you eventually get better, just like in any other hobby.
If it's something you truly want to improve at, you won't stop (I still think my art is just above average, and that's okay)
The process is hard and really long, but it's worth it.
I also was terrified of being judged until I realized that people who write really mean comments just because you're not good enough are the most pathetic people in the world, who have probably never picked up a pen in their lives or are at the same level as you. More pro artists have neither the time nor the inclination to leave mocking criticism in the comments of beginner artists.
I've been actively posting my art since 2017 and have seen some crap, and the best way to maintain your sanity, especially if you're young and sensitive, is to minimize your interactions. You don't have to turn off comments, but you can simply choose not to check them until you're comfortable enough. Just draw and have fun, even if you're drawing the same character over and over again—it's no one's business.
(Also, at least here on Tumblr, it's better to disable DMS and be careful with pictures that people send you in asks, they may contain weird scam tacticks or straight up real life gore. Been through this)
Sorry for long-ass yap, but I hope this helped and please don't be scared of posting art. There will be someone who will love it 💛
(Btw these two aren't ocs, they're from an old youtube show I loved called "Meet Bob")
